Carl Hurth - original gearset manufacturer for Porsche

    Hello,
The Munich company Carl Hurth, founded in 1896, was manufacturer for the Porsche gearsets.
Can anybody confirm that the intertwined CH or (GH?) is the early short version of the metal stamping logo of the company?

Later on, I think, mostly the full name Hurth was stamped.

    Thank for your expertise.

    Best regards

Claudius, the intertwined GH is the company logo of GETRAG Hagenmeyer.
The HURTH logo timeline is shown below, although they continued to use their original logo well into the 1980s.

    Hi Jon,
    Great information.
Do you have any idea during what time period Getrag delivered the gearsets, when Hurth for the SWB boxes?
Who did the casting of the early aluminum gearbox cases? It is an oval logo?

Claudius, both Getrag and Hurth supplied gears and shift components to Porsche since the 1950s.
Getrag was the major supplier, beginning with the first Porsche synchromesh transmission in 1952.
Both companies advertised regularly in the Christophorus magazines.

Post a photo of the oval logo you're asking about, I'm not sure what you're describing.
Honsel-Werke did many of the early aluminum castings.

    Hi Jon,
Here a picture of the oval logo. It looks like the oval ring is surrounding the letters PFA or what do you think?
It could be the Italian company PFA, Srl located in Cortenova (Regio Lecco), specialised in aluminum extrusion since 1962.

Claudius, I'm not familiar with that logo.

The housing logos were normally formed in the casting process, and not stamped.
I'll find some housing logos tomorrow.

Here's another Getrag ad from a 60s Christophorus.
