Cool car. Color looked 356 to me. Like a darker Meissen Blau. Or a non-metallic Diamond Blue from the 911.

Let's go back to Bob's original question. What happens to your money when you build a hot rod.

We have an outstanding example with Paul's car on BaT right now. This car is about as good as a SWB hot rod gets. Right now it's at $68,000 with 3 days to go.

In 3 days we can compare the money he got with what a similar restored, and equivalent, SWB 911S has brought on the market. This is not to discuss which one you might like most. This is a $-to-$ comparison.

We're comparing the $ value of a really great hot rod to a really great restoration.

At some later point we can discuss whether a hot rod sucks money up as fast as a restoration. That's a very different question from value. I suspect Paul has got as much money into his 911 as one might spend on a quality restoration. We can deal with that as a separate issue after the auction is complete.

Since this is an old thread, might as well up date the numbers.....$500K

The Singer will just confuse things. It's really not a hot rod in the sense that most of us here think of one.

We need to stick to hot rods.
