Thread: Early US 911S’s with 100L tank??

Compilation of SWB 911S’s w/ Factory Installed 100L tank

Hi Folks. How about compiling info on SWB cars with factory installed 100l tanks? I’ll start by posting my info for what I think is worth capturing …

    MY: 1967,
    VIN: 306943S,
    Build Date: 7.12.66,
    Market sold into: US,
Intended Usage (race, rally, street, other?): Street,
    Side or center fill?: Side,
    Documentation source(s): Kardex & CoA,
Original tank surviving in car today? (Y/N): N

I dug up this tread from 2013 which has some good info on the history of large capacity tanks:

    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...-tank-question

Apparently the 100l tank was “not for USA”, but my Kardex shows delivery via P.C. Distributors in Culver City, CA. Naturally, I’m curious what other U.S. delivered cars had 100l tanks, and whether their intended use was for street or only track / off-road.

    Any and all contributions welcome.

‘67 911S Canary/Lemon yellow, sunroof coupe produced w/100L tank. Until determined otherwise, 306943S appears to be 1 of 1, and among the earliest 911’s with a 100L tank. The 911’s initial participation in a competitive event, the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, was fitted with a 100L tank (#300055). Seeking additional info on earliest 100L tank fitments to 911’s.

Eric, thanks so much. Lots of really cool historical info.

Per the Kardex, my car wasn’t ordered with any other rally or racing related items. Really makes me curious about whoever ordered it; must’ve been really tuned in (and possibly well connected since it was “not for the USA”?) to have ordered the tank so soon after its release.

Cool. More great 100L tank info Eric.

I’m assuming your info regards cars know as of today to have been factory built with 100L tanks; not a complete listing of such cars.

Hopefully more info will be added over time. Would be fantastic to eventually have the complete picture. If only the factory would allow access to the Kardex records.
