I have my own version of a rod. Mostly original-ish 73 911E with factory optioned S goodies + 16" fuchs and a 3.2 from a mid 80s donor. We do have the numbers matching 2.4 in a box. With a hole in the case. But we're not going to restore this one. Mostly going to leave it as it is + refinished original sport seats. New drivers wheel. Fresh CocoMats. We're in at between $40-50 I think. Nice to not have a garage queen. And we can still make a little noise and put smiles on peoples faces.

'. . . Power is provided by a replacement 2.45-liter flat-six that features mechanical fuel injection and is said to have been modified to 911S specifications . . .'

Ok…look , I really dislike the use of “ Hot Rod “, let me explain…
Originally this term applied to cars of 50’s ,60’s that were built with parts from a variety of cars/mfg’s
Different details (taillights, rear ends, headlights taillights etc….again from all variety of cars .
Cars were styled/chopped / frenched / quartered/ blown etc…again no resemblance of the original origins of the car.
Is well know Magnus is termed/ known as “ Outlaw “ but all mods made to his cars ( maybe other than paint schemes) are within the Porsche family of parts and modifications RSR, R’s . He chooses details mostly from Porsche vocabulary..
The 356 Registry/Group recognizes the term “Outlaw “ as a classification for their Concours Event’s …and is commonly used For Modified 356’s , think the Emory 356 cars ….They are Outlaws ! No Buick bumpers, No chevy or LS engines , many are an accumulation of various Porsche details form other Porsche cars of various years.
I even suggest the 911 Group adopt the “Outlaw “ term and classification for all events , shows, Parades etc.
Just like the 356 group…
It’s a more refined & sophisticated term ….much different than the “ Hot Rod “ crowd !
Please stop “ Hot Rod “ !
BTW ..I love all the cars that have been posted here (Outlaws) ..reminds me if my 356 Outlaw that had a hot 912 engine, GT styled exterior/interior , plexi lift widows, 911 disc brakes , 67 sport seats , Heuer rally gauges on glove box door…. It really was more of a 356 GT tribute or Rally car . So lucky to have won 1st place Outlaw 2 years in a row at East Coast Holiday…my favorite Porsche ever !
Definitely not a Hot Rod !
