Frere, The Racing Porsches, a Technical Triumph (one of the best car books, period)
Frere, Racing Porsches of the 1970's
    Frere, The Porsche 911 Story
    Ludvigsen, Excellence Was Expected
Jenkinson, Porsche 356 (too bad, probably as close as I will get to owning one)
Rasmussen, Porsche Six Cylinder Supercars (best photos)

Unfortunately Brett Johnson's book is full of innacuaracies. The best books I know of for R Gruppe purposes are the factory's Sports Purpose Manuals, the Carrera RS book (TAG), The Porsche Book (Boschen/Barth) and Starkey's Porsche R/RS/RSR.

There are plenty of other Porsche books that are useful in part (I have about 100 others), and Porsche 911 (Frere) & Excellence Was Expected have important sections in them. I like Leffingwell's Porsche Legends better than his latest book, but the new book is a good read. I have a couple of Susan Miller's books which are helpful for those factory brochures I don't have. For racing buffs, Porsche at LeMans is great as is The Fabulous 917. Probably the best photographed book around is Porsche Racing Milestones by Thomas. Have Fun!

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.
