    Pre 73 Tool kit info

    Hi all,

Can any one confirm if tool kits pre 73 came with a "fuse" pack. Which was a small Burgundy packet containing 5 fuses and also a Porsche towel?

Also can anyone confirm what the material was for a 70-71 tool kit roll. Should it be "basket" weave textured like the dash insert and door panels.
If so, when the tool kit roll change to the later smooth material

It may sound techy, but I want the correct kit for 71S.

    Thanks

    Alan

Basketweave with the clasps for 71. Don't know about the burgundy packet for the fuses but, "plastic bag containing five fuses" is listed in the 71 parts manual. 914.721.013.10

No listing for the towel. I've heard that it was not factory.

Also listed in the parts manual is the bottle of glycerine 901.721.010.10

The fuse "bag" in my '72 tool kit is NOT the burgandy thing, which is what I suspect is used these days because the original was fragile and is NLA. Best way I can decribe it is a little box of clear plastic that slides open & closed like a small plastic aspirin tin. Also, good luck finding the original (yellow) 5 amp fuse...

Thanks for the information. I have attached some pics of the Burgundy Fuse pack that I have, with the fuses. I am still uncertain what year this is from? I also think I have the fuse pack that open and slides, I will get some pics to confirm if it is the original one.

Do you ever see the "bottle of glycerine 901.721.010.10" for sale?

    Thanks again

    Alan,

FWIW to me, your fuse pack looks too recent to be an original 2.2 tool kit part.
I have the small plastic slide box, which is a bit fragile these days(just like some Sunday mornings for me ) and I suspect that this one is the more original of the two.
I am interested in your findings as my car is a similar UK delivered '71 2.2S.
    Keep me posted.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    Alan,

Tool kit should be basketweave similair to door panels/dash etc

    Should have silver clasps

Paul is spot on clear, hard plastic container with sliding lid for fuses.

Spoanners should have Drop Forged steel marked on them.

Plug spanner does not have the rubber insert and is smaller than later (73) style

Pliers should not have Hapewe on them just made in Germany.

The screwdirers I am not 100% sure about it either the reversable style or two single units. Someone smarter than I can help there.

Not sure when smooth started certainly after 73 or at least very very late 73.

    Alan,

I think the fuse pack you have is the one Stoddards list in their 356 catalogue, found on this page (item 7):
