Thread: Casting numbers and heads - clearing the confusion

  1. #31
I don't see '68 S heads on the list. My set have the number 901.104.305.0R dated 11-67 Valves 42/38 ports 36/35

    Kenik,

Now that this has been revived (thanks Paul_D), how about extending the right-hand column to include “Carb” and “MFI”.
There could be a column for the related engine type.
The ’68 USA heads (901/14 & 901/17) are the only ones with exhaust air injection ports.

Lines could be added for the ’72-’73 911TV as with 901/20, 901/21 and 901/22 for the 906, 906E and 911R.
Including 914-6 street and racing would be useful.

Has this been ported over to Pelican 911 Technical Forum?

    Best,
    Grady

Here are more odd ball stuff:
    R 901 104 303 04 2/65. No injection casting on intake. Real early. Small port & valves.
    R 901 104 304 08 10/65. No injection casting on intake. 911R
    R 901 104 304 05 9/67. With injection casting. 911R
    911 104 302 OR 12/72. 73 CIS 'T'
    911 104 322 OR 3/73. 2.8 RSR
    930 104 341 01 7-> 11/79. 3.0 935

It took a mystery for me to revive this thread, but here's a new one. On two different very early 69S cars, I have seen heads with the following, as yet undocumented casting numbers:

    901 104 308 0R

    The acknowledged 69S casting number is close: 901 104 308 1R

All casting dates of the 0R heads I have are 4-68 and 5-68, well before the MY crossover in July. When measured, they spec out like a 69S head, ports, valves, everything. They are nothing like a 67S head.

Having heard rumors that there were two different spec 69S heads, perhaps these are them?

I have the following heads here.
Any ideas on the last row?
They have the casting number like a 68 S, but the date code is from 1970?
The ports are bigger than my other 914-6 heads with different part numbers and dates.

    date - part number - casting - ports - valves - cyl - MFI - origin
    6-69 - 911.104.306.0R - k1819g - 32/32 - 46/40 - 2.2 - NO - 2.2T
    7-70 - 911.104.306.0R - k1819g - 32/32 - 46/40 - 2.2 - NO - 2.2T
    3-70 - 901.104.306.2R - k1819d - 32/32 - 42/38 - 2.0 - NO - 914-6
    8-70 - 901.104.305.0R - k1819c - 35/33 - 42/38 - 2.0 - NO - ?????

    thanks,
    dug

Further to Kenik's post on 69S type heads, I have a third type on my car. These are marked 901.104.304.0R and K1819A with a date stamp of 9/69. They came as part of a 906 engine but I always thought they were from a 69S because of the date stamps. Could these be a later run of 2 litre twin plug racing heads?

Those are 911ST twin plug. Here are 2.5 ST HBF heads with 11-70 and 2-72 dates.
