    Racing, or S/T fuel tank

I got so inspired by the "Green Meanie" so when I saw a -73 E "project" with turbo fenders I went ahead and bought it. From the beginning it was ment to be a low budget project but along the way....

I recently bought a interesting fuel tank. It looks like a 2.8 RSR tank but it's made in -71. I do not have any brakets or stuff to get it in the car. I have seen some pictures of tanks with some kind of "cord" crossing it.

Can anyone help with information how it should be fastened?

    Regards,
    Pär

George, thanks for the picture. Do all belts have that metalic inlay?. Are they fastened in the same place as the standard metal tank? And, do you know when this version came to be used. And, is it the same as in the 2.8 RSR. The car in the picture look like a G-series car.

$2500-$3500plus for a tank plus Approx $300-$500 for an original cap.. That will get you what you want..

I have gotten more information on where my tank has come from. From what I have learned the tank come from a 911 S raced by Swedish driver Jan Lundegårdh in 1972. He raced some races in Europe under the Castrol "flag". Jan drove for a team called Västkusstugan during 1973 and 1974 in a 2.8 RSR.

I do not know if Jans S was a S/T or if it was a rebuilt S. I will researche more in this.

Some other questions: When did Porsche start to use this style of tank? Was there any differens between tanks made 1971/1972/1973?

Anyone have a detailed picture of the end of the strap that keeps the tank in place?

    Regards,
