Show me your 914-6 double wrapped steering wheels...please

Search feature yields all the info one could ask for in re: to part numbers but I would like to see the completed wheels and who did the double wrapping. Currently looking at Tony from Autobaun Interiors to double wrap the 914 347 805 10 (12/69) wheel I just bought today. Please post experience and price. I understand AGLA is a "no-go".
Also - I don't recall anyone using a Wheelskins kit to double wrap. This was one of my first projects 5 or 6 years ago on 400mm wheel and I seem to recall it came out nice.

    Wheel

    Bob,

Here is mine that Tony re-did this winter. Ignore the dirty interior though...car has been sitting under the cover since Sept!

On another note, I am almost finished with the suspension and brake set-up. I will post soon with photos and results.

    Recovering Steering Wheels

    Hello Bob,
We recover 914/6 steering wheels, here's a link that shows our wheel:

We recover them to the 914/6 GT and RSR thickness. I can send better pictures of the wheel installed, we have done many.
    Best regards,
    Mark Allin

I too had one done by Tony and it looks just like the one Bob shows. My only gripe with Tony's work is the fact that the leather wasn't finised at the spokes like the nice wheel that Mark shows.

If you really are picky the stitching is the wrong pattern as you follow it toward the spoke from the perimeter. It should change to a baseball style. That is not that big a deal IMHO.

    Hey Bob,
Here's the early 911S sport steering wheel look I think works. It's on my '67S.
Ironically, it's not double wrapped. See if it works for you.

    911s

Rich...the main reason for the 914-6 wheel is that it is 380mm instead of 400mm -- just a bit less of the "tractor" feel. I like my original 400mm leather wheel on my 67S too...but for a trick look and feel, the 914-6 wheel works nicely.
