    Shipping from England

Have been holding off joining until I got an early "S" but finally did. Currently Porscheless but on the trail of a few. Have had several over the years both newer and older and sold my last one 2 years ago. Thinking I would never but another but the urge has taken over again. Can anyone lend some insight on the problems, procedures, pitfalls, etc. in bringing an older Porsche in the country from England. Many thanks and I'll keep you posted.

I would think the purchase price would be your first problem !

Early 911's tend to be much more expensive here than in the States - that's why many UK owners imported their cars from the US.

Thumbs up bring a car to the USA

I brought my RHD RS across with me and had it registered in Delaware no problem. The DMV had a problem as the car was built in 72 but they could NOT see the RS model in that year, so I paid the 2.5 percent registration fee based on the value of a okay S - which needless to say was somewhat less than the RS would have been. They also didn't query why I chose RS73 as my tag / plate

Inspection of the car, well it's RHD that's about all the inspection there was, but I understand out states are a wee bit stricter

    Shipping from England

At the risk of getting some flack...my advice is to get a car here in the states...and don't get hung up on it being an "S" unless you are a collector or an investor. I have two early S's and they are great cars...but so are early 911T's and E's. In the past couple of years the market for early S's has gone out of sight for the average guy who just wants to own, drive, work on, and enjoy the early long hood cars. My recommendation is to get any early car that's in good condition you can find. Whether you get a T, E, or S; they all will give you the early 911 pure driving experience. Find a good, non rusty early car at a fair price and you will enjoy it and you won't lose money on it. Values on all early cars have been going up like crazy. Also, in case it's not clear. The Early 911S Registry is reaching out to include all owners of early 911s. Not just S cars. We want you in this registry whether your early car is a T, E or an S.
