Listing says ...."The RS was delivered in the specification that it wears today". Really? That would be on a 3xx m472 car delivered .... with out S steel bumper but a regular RS spoiler with what looks like cooler in c06 France spec in Jan 73 when regulators in that country didn't allow these front bumpers , a rear grp m471 style bumper, green 7 and 8 inch colour wheels and green carrera decals on light yellow paint code 6262, M471 style door cards, natty fared in mirrors, m471 style seats, missing s sill deco trim, missing bumper trim bonus Christmas tree lights on dash, missing lighter, earlier chrome surround on dash light switch, those leads grounded to negative on fan housing etc etc?
Also second series owners with unmolested cars might be surprised to read this gem which is not only incorrect doesn't seem to pertain to a first 500 series car of type that is on offer ".....Most of this second series was comprised of M472 Touring versions, which used standard-thickness 911 sheet metal..."
Maybe indeed a good car owned previously by regarded owners and looked after by folks who know this is not to spec but don't care but.... Is it too much to ask the auction listing get facts right in copy? It is possible that was the spec originally I'm pretty sure it would be easy to disprove the assertion.
Fantastic .....only in auction land ...and maybe politics.

I think it's sad that for every over-priced Lightweight I have seen for sale in the last 18 months, I can always easily find half a dozen things wrong just by looking at the engine picture. That engine has been out, and not put back exactly correctly, IMHO . . .
looks like a pre 1972 build "RS" something
Not sure why it would've had an English language maintenance book from earlier era for a car delivered there as late as in June of 73 rather than the correct Italian language one with TES Carrera RS
While it is long known among those who know the model that some early RS built in calendar 72 got a transitional modified maintenance book as a consequence of the limited edition 500 homologation project being out of step with normal production literature cycles so catching them on the hop, I know there are owners of third series RS from Italy that have such cars and have seen posted examples of correct Italian language books in use by this date well into lifecycle of 911744 model that are correct type used for RS. There are of course always exceptions but that paperwork detail is curious for an April production car delivered in June ....also another detail ....thought 73 cars from particular day ( don't recall day offhand) in March got the later sticker round in rear quarter not this superseded version ?

So the ad says thinner steel panels. I'm not an RS expert but thought that later light weights were in fact heavy weight light weights and not the same as the earlier LW models ??

Hi Steve
Frankly one really knows as the dozen or so panels that were thinner than series-production on RS would've run out at different times in the third series and chassis were not actually assembled in vin strict sequence. Based on factory info I have there appears to be a significance around vin 1034/5 that would indicate this point marked the second/third series which if counting from 0011 adds a buffer when the limited edition project driving the homologation goal called time on those that would've been weighed to certify with FIA and more normal parts and processes could've allowed a more practical profitable way of ordering and assembling motor cars. That's my take
If claims were made by seller that all the dozen originally thinner guage panels were used beyond that vin point I'd personally be sceptical even if odd and sods of thin sheet metal got used up beyond that point.
Best
Steve
