    Dealer Description:

This outstanding example is one of the first 100 cars produced in the first series. It has been in the U.S. since the 1980s and is absolutely fully numbers matching without stories period. Two long term owners since then with a restoration by marque experts to lightweight specification using original M471 parts. The restoration and workmanship have held up beautifully. The car remains in show condition and has been maintained to a high level. A truly great example of the pinnacle 911.

I have photos of it from sometime in the past 5 or 6 years (i think pre 2015) at pebble beach with Californian plates RS476 still with yellow lights but then with black carrera scrip and stock colored wheels ( although wider wheels than in the DK photo)

Didn't see this listed here but maybe didn't scroll back far enough. A third series M471 Sport ( at least they put the term Lightweight in quotations!) to be auctioned in London
    https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/255...0=Porsche&m0=0

I might pop in to have a look at it sometime before then

As usual some total bolloxx in the blurb such as this gem: " After 17 RSH (for Homologation) ultra-lightweight (960kg) cars had been completed, production of the slightly heavier (975kg) but still very basic RS Sport began" ...News to me ...so they built 17 homologation RSH first then they built the Sports ?

Another "Designated M471 and also known as the Lightweight model, the RS Sport featured minimal undercoating" this generalisation omitting to mention that third series M471 (so presumably this example) usually got liberal applications of shutz underside bonnet, in the front compartment along chassis beside engine etc !

Also there is mention of a current report on car written by Josh Sadler. Has anyone got a copy? What does "generally correct" mean ? You'd have thought have got Josh to look over the blurb if he was being mentioned in it as he has been around these cars for years.

Not criticising car as haven't seen it ...may actually be a good car and possibly worth the indicated money but for their auction house cut is it too much to expect Bonhams to get the basics facts correct in their catalogue listing copy?

Was there some kind of loaves and fishes type miracle where the 17 homologation examples were enough to satisfy the 500 plus 500 more FIA requirement perhaps? Or do Bonhams genuinely not understand how it was really done with the now very well known two stage order and two stage build processes for the circa thousand examples that were weighed to achieve certification ( albeit at this point in the homologation programme likley this example wasn't even one of those that had a role in achieving the raison d'etre of -- homologation !)

Thousands if not millions of words have been written about the model for the writer to look at ... ...I dispair!!
