#0936 - maybe fake acc. SCM Dec 2020/ - Legal Files, page 50

Original SCM-text except: „Based on P***’s allegations, and despite some confusing language in his court filings, we suspect that Mr. P*** bought a fake 1973 Carrera RS, based on a G-Series donor car. A deceitful shop could have fairly easily backdated that tub into a long-hood, low bumper F-Series car and built it out as a 1973 Carrera RS in(based upon the auction listing photos) an also-incorrect-for-the-car Lightweight configuration

    Auction Description:

Delivered new in Germany in 1973, this genuine matching engine Carrera RS Touring model was specified in the current colour scheme of Grand Prix white with green ‘Carrera’ graphics and matching wheels (one of 60 known cars in the scheme). In the 1980s the RS resided in Florida in the United States, significantly with accountant John F. Kelly of Fort Lauderdale who kept the 911 for around 30 or years, during which time the Porsche was maintained by Porsche specialist Butch Stokes of Fort Lauderdale, who rebuilt the engine and gearbox. In current UK ownership since 2014, the RS has been serviced by Pace Products of Haverhill, Suffolk, and treated to a cosmetic restoration. Offered with a fresh service by a UK marque specialist, ‘0936’ represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic sports cars in motoring history.

    Hi Wolf,

What makes you think it a fake?

After reading the SCM article once more, I want to add my personal opinion to this case.

SCM claims, due to the fact that the RS was (re)built from a G-series(tub) to an F-series car, in connection with essential parts that were built in and which do not match the original, that #0936 could/would be a " fake ".

However, there is still the possibility that #0936, like many other RS, was upgraded to a G-series car in the late 1970s and that was the reason for the modifications regarding to the tub. Later the RS may have been possibly converted back to its original F-Series configuration, although many original parts were of course missing and certain modifications to the chassis were no longer revised.

That's why I changed my original text afterwards and wrote "maybe" fake, as I cannot judge whether SCM's assessment could be correct or not.

So it gives up its lightweight metal tub? And VIN? That’s worth what, what a RS recreation would be worth? Not a RS (ie fake) in my mind.

Here the VIN stamping...genuine to me. I would like to see the LHS shock tower, there is a tell tale wether the tun is from a G model and that picture I do not have.

Can’t you just measure the shell thickness?
