Joe, I'm still pissed at my brother for cheap selling that thing to you! Don't forget it goes back to the Fender family first!

Guys I'm sorry I forgot I posted this thread....Thanks Ed for drawing my attention to it. It sounds like you've guys have done this before. I'm looking for a safe car. I had a 1974 VW beetle. Swapped ends totaled it out on a tree. Then I had a 73 MGB, I was looking at my girl friend crossed the centerline had a head on with an opel station wagon, totaled it. Then I had a 76 Capri R, that was a fast car, tore the transmission out speed shifting. Then I bought an 80? Honda station wagon. No problems from then on.
I was looking at a VW passat 2000-2005 or a 2000-2004 BMW 3 series just for safety. Believe it or not it’s cheaper (by a lot) to insure the BMW over the VW. The Honda civic is a good choice too. I fill you in on what I decide...sorry again for the delay to this thread.

Did I mention the Maybach as an option? I think that car is a little safer.

If anyone is intrested I ended up buying a 2007 VW jetta GLI with the DSG tipronic transmission. It should be here in october. I chose this car for a couple of reasons, one its saftey record and two its a car me and him can autocross or even DE. My therory is if I can get his disire to go fast on the track he might not do it on the road.
