    Becker Grand Prix 73.5T help

I bought the car without the radio attached. PO included radio in sale. Pictures as shown. Since PO replaced fenders with new ones that had no antenna opening, he decided to not reinstall the radio. All I want to do is hear my Ipod with that excellent attachment referenced in another discussion. What wires go where? Speakers are already in car.

I have seen a guy who sells on EBay out of Switzerland who restores old Porsche and Mercedes radios to like new condition both cosmetically and mechanically. From what I remember, his restored radios go for around $300 - if you want a really nice one that works like new.

How many do you want? I'm pretty sure I have 2 Grand Prix's and 1 Europa.
One came from Becker and the other from a guy in L.A. that specialized in Beckers and Blaupunkts. In working order.

I have the radio. I really simply want to know if anyone can tell me what to connect where? Thanks!

I would have to believe that it's pretty simple. W/out having any newer speaker upgrades or equalizers, it should be like 4 wires.
1)One thick wire which plugs into the radio body would be the antenna (again this wire "plugs" into the back of the radio).
2)One ground wire (I am guessing it would be brown since this is what Porsche and Germans generally denote as ground (not black like we do in the States).
3)One wire going to the dashboard speaker
    4) One wire going to the fuseblock

There can't be too many variables.
To find the switch wire, just look at the list on the fuseblock cover, determine which fuse is for the radio. Check the color of the wire connecting to the fuse, and then go under the knee pad and find that colored wire and hook it up.

As regards the speaker wire, pop open the dash cover and see which color wire goes to the speaker (if you can't find it, make a new one).

All of this shouldn't take more than an hour to do...

Thanks, Gruen, I will try and set it up this weekend. May need professional help, since I do not know how to even remove the speaker grill for the dash and rear speakers to check out the wiring.

The dash speaker cut-out pops off with 4 little snap on screws one in each corner of the speaker grill. You might even be able to get to the wire from inside the trunk.
If you are going to try tzking it off from the dash, BE CAREFUL. These dashes are delicate and can crack easily.
