So, that one is the one Jeff Smith referred to. The hard rubber with the felt padded single leather wrap! Wow, that is really nice!

So, I assume a different part number must have been called out on the RSR parts list similar to the RS parts list? I also assume it would be different than the RS part number because of the horn button. Robert, I seem to remember you mentioning that awhile back but, I don't recall if you mentioned the number.

Does it have the four additional threaded holes for the 914 application in addition to the two countersunk 911 holes?

Is this the partsnumber refered to in the 914 catalog under 914-6 pre-71? If
so they used a 914-6 wheel and others for the RSR, maybe they just used what they had as long as it was a no recess wheel and 380mm thickness?

A Standard 380mm RS wheel is normal thickness, with the same part number as in the parts manual. Thick steering wheels, be it GT or RSR have a different part number. The thickness was similar to my old 95' Golf GTI's steering wheel. I'd measure the thinkness for you but i'm currently out of town. I'll gladly do it once we return.
The horn button does not change the part number of a wheel.
A 14-6 GT wheel had slightly different part nimber.. I believe Cees mentioned that number near the start of this thread.

    Rob,

That is a great looking wheel and is the 'holy grail' of '73 RS wheels. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of J.S., here is a disected RSR wheel that he has. It shows a construction of a thin foam material attached to a hard plastic wheel. Also shown is a felt like material on the under side of the leather wrap. Notice there is no additional material between the wheel spoke and the leather cover.
