    Found; Nice Tractor

Just found a nice John Deere 830 with a loader, only 300 hrs. Mmmm, I'm really thinking about this. What do you think, sell a Porsche and buy a tractor? It is a nice tractor.

for a very short time i owned a 950 w/ loader. power steering would've been nice but otherwise i LOVED it. tractors are entirely too much fun!

the loader is really a fun toy to have too.

Everyone ought to have a tractor - it's the machine that has fed the world for decades. If you own one, you'll go out of your way to find jobs to do that require their muscle. My father-in-law (now 95) has given me a '54 Farmall Super H which is now restored and a '53 Super M with a front end loader which has patina in spades. It currently runs on just three cylinders because of a stuck valve, but next time I'm down on the farm I'll take off the valve cover, give the rocker arm a slight whack and we'll be back in business. I can think up all sorts of jobs for a front-end loader! A couple of years ago I was there with my Dodge Ram and a 30' trailer with a car on board. It rained cats and dogs throughout the night and I was parked under the wash of the barn - the water was just too much for the gutters to handle. After several attempts to get the rig to move, I pulled out the Super H, threw a chain through the Dodge's tow hook and pulled the whole rig out like child's play; I barely had to move the throttle off of idle. Amazing what can be done with 37hp, the right gearing and 10x38 rear tires. The Super H came along when my wife was 7 - just old enough for to pull the bailer while her dad stacked 'em. Here she is 50 (don't tell her I said so) years later; same tractor.

That's a great pic! About 3 hours ago I used a neighbors John Deere 430 to pull out a Sago palm tree. Growing up in rural Ohio the machine I mostly saw was Massey Ferguson. Ohhh how I have an itch for a Porsche one. There is a guy on the west coast that seems to always have one for sale on ebay, but I can't find him now.

Porsches are the best - Tractors are the best. And then there are Porsche Tractors!

I have a well used Farmall 'M' that I use for bushhogging pastures. As much fun as it is to get on the road in an early Porsche, it's hard to beat riding along high up on the Farmall on a beautiful sunny day. It's something of a sublime experience. I'll try to post some pictures of my old workhorse if I can find some.

Hey guys, thanks for the response. I'm surprised at the rcomments I was afraid I'd get thrown off for posting about a tractor.
Right now I've got a 950 w/ loader but you know you always want a bigger better machine. Made an offer on the 830 last night so we'll see. And yes tractors are alot of fun!

We're supposed to like "red" (and no other) on our place. The red vs. green thing is always amusing conversation among my in-laws. One brother in law likes to talk trash about the green but I know if one showed up on the property that he'd be behind the wheel in a NY minute.

BTW, G&W has an extremely nice Porsche tractor (for sale). I've seen it (it's purdy) and heard it run.

Oh well, didn't get that machine. Anyone know of a good site for buying used John Deere tractors on the net? Something like this one. Perhaps I need to look about more.
Sorry to digress from P cars here.
