Color 226 - Chartruse (Lime Green)

    Hi,

I am just about to get my '72 911 re-done in this colour.
    Its a solid colour
Does anyone own a car in this colour who has a picture they could post?

I think I have seen a picture of an RS on these pages - but never an S or a T.
Although I may have seen an S on a picture of the 2001 Lime Rock Rennsport Reunion.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm looking forward to going green!

I'm probably in the minority, but unless this is the original color of your car --

DO NOT PROCEED UNLESS YOU SEE THE COLOR IN PERSON. THERE IS NO WAY TO VIEW A PICTURE ON YOUR MONITOR AND GET A TRULY ACCURATE SENSE OF JUST HOW BRIGHT THIS COLOR IS.

On the other hand, just look up into the midday sun. Your car will be about 30% brighter.

Hate to say it but... you will take a big hit on the resale value of your car too.

    Chartruse!

    Sandy,

Thanks for the show of support!!

I have to ask, what color (s) would you recommend??

    The situation is this
Original colour Sepia Brown (oh yes!)
    Current color Black

As regards the resale value - surely can't go lower than Sepia!

Thanks for your interest and replys

I've seen the RS in Chartreuse and it is beautiful. Clearly like one of the signal colors - very bright. Those colors were developed by Porsche in response to a safety study that determined that bright colored cars were involved in fewer acidents. Chartreuse is also used by many municipalities for fire trucks. A really terrific, period color. I disagree about the resale. A few years ago, people were discouraging all the signal colors and now they are among the most desirable. Go for it!

I agree. That chartreuse RS looks just horrible. Really, great color!

Sorry to be so harsh but deep deep deep in my heart, I want to reach out and help.

Exactly my point. Chartreuse is a traffic stopper. In all the wrong ways. Seriously. Let me go one step further and say that if you paint your car in Chartreuse and when it's done, you absolutely love it? I will send you $10 U.S. Simple as that.

And to go even further, for the EXTREMELY SHORT TIME this color was available from Porsche, the U.S. Porsche salesman wouldn't even suggest it to customers considering ordering their car from the factory. In fact, when people wanted that "bright green" from the catalogue color chip, the salesman would actually try and talk the customers out of that choice. Why? Because when the majority of those cars arrived, the customers took one look at the reality and immediately demanded their deposit back.

You want great period colors? Try Gemini Blue, Viper Green, Signal Yellow, Bahama Yellow, Olive, Aga Blue, Leaf Green , Ivory, Tangerine, Signal Orange, Irish Green, Dalmation Blue, Mexico Blue and of course traditional Silver. Any and all of those would be brilliant on your car. Again, I urge you to see a Chartreuse car in person before you make this choice.

And to all of you who support this paint job, how many of you would trade your car for the same one in Chartreuse? Show of hands please?
