This is great old thread that I missed, glad it came back from the dead. I found a 73 Targa with a chartreuse paint code, its a disassembled project that was abandoned. I have it in storage currently but I'm looking forward to getting it started. Its an unusual car in that it has a 7R case and MFI.

Are there any records of how many cars were built of a certain color?

Did this car ever get painted?

Here are some pictures I've collected.

Looks like Chartreuse is not quite as rare as first indicated. Certainly not ugly as some had suggested. I like everyone I have seen posted here.

I think Chartreuse is a great color. The rare colors like Chartreuse, Gold Metallic, etc that represent the 70s can and will bring an additional premium if you decide to sell it. The supply and demand theory generally always wins.

However if your car is a number matching car, currently the wrong color, and you are going to take the time and money to paint the car correctly I would recommend painting it the original Sepia Brown. The brown colors are becoming more popular as well. Once again, it represents the 70s. Plus, the more correct the car the more valuable which is a true consideration with the current appreciation in the 911 market. Buy another non matching number car and modify it the way you want to. Green, 3.0, Flares, all the goods.

Now if it is not a number matching car... Go for the Green! That color is a great color!

Post pics as you go in whichever direction. Love to see the progress!

Resurrecting this thread as it's been almost 5 years since the last post. Can those of you with factory Lime Green cars, post a photo of your car? Pretty sure this is one of the rarest early 911 colors. Would love to see how many registry members have a car in this color.

Ok.......although I Love those unusual/unique colors and have always bought/restored mine based on their Orignal color.
......Sepia is not one of them .......sell this car, lick wounds and move on.

Considering the initial purchase cost and major investment for re-paint and dark history of being Sepia the value will never be there !
Colors reflect a cars personality as shown by previous posts.....chartreuse is an aggressive color demanding attention.
RS and coupes are perfect but not on a targa. Targa’s are a more sophisticated style , they don’t communicate speed and aggressive driving.

Silvers and blues for Targa’s..if you must keep it .
Let the Sepia lovers buy this targa, but anxious to hear what you decide.
