CHUCK.. You forgot a few things!

The Super 90 GT to save weight used thinner glass, had plexiglass side windows with a leather pull up strap (no crank mechanism) they also were delete of undercoating and had vinyl instead of carpets .Plus the speedster seats were aluminum.. In addition they had 60mm GT brakes with air scoops and they normally came with a special trans BBEA + LS..

Push rod GTs very rare cars indeed!

Many people also dont know that They also built 6 pushrod GT Speedsters in 1959 (yes 1959).. I once had one chassis #84912.... and possibly a few with T5 "B" nose panels..And they also built in 1959 29 Carrera (4 Cam)GT Speedsters..

    S90 Gt,

I saw a red one at this years PCA Parade. I also saw a couple of different Silver ones before. That must mean I saw half of the total production of these rare models.

When the seller states......"CORRECT GT SEATS"

This means they are the slightly wider lite weight GT seats and not the normal Speedster seats.

Cool car like the lightweight sports purpose rare 911 models.......911R, ST, RS. etc.

    Just another dream for me,
    Scooter

Scooter Gt Seats A The Same Width..

    Scooter,

GT seats have always been rumored to be wider but they are the same.

I had a set of aluminum GT seats, the steel GT seats out of my Twin Grille Roadster and the seats out of my Speedster all sitting next to each other.

I measured every dimension of each seat and although they look wider the GT seats are the same. They do look wider and deeper because they are covered with less padding.

And other strange little details about th GT cars is that the inspection covers in front of the steering box are also aluminum and some of the cars were built without the rear shelf behind the back jump seats.

I noticed that this car had cold air boxes and I think that the car should have had the wide alloy velocity stacks not air cleaners on the Solex 40P11 carbs..

seems to me the ex-Ned McDaniel car also had a heated windshield & some other goodies. it was featured in Excellence ca. 1991 shortly before heading to Florida. (~ $200K) this was after Ned won several concours trophies including the 1990 356 Registry West Coast Holiday class win & judges award.
i have those 2 trophies. i supplied the bumpers & some other bits to the restoration. that was the 4-cammer. the sister car (consecutive serial #'s IIRC) was the S-90 & went to the Monterey area in it's unrestored state.
one of those Karl Block '59 pushrod GT Speedsters relocated from the S.F. Bay Area to Oregon about 10 years ago. it was a Fresno area barn find ca. 1984. the owner has turned down some REALLY long numbers on that one

Great Car Chuck. I was going to ask about it after you refered to it in the post regarding the 911's for sale.

Dad and I bought a barn find pushrod GT speedster (yes, 1959model) in the Chicago area in the early 80's, summer of 1981 if I remember right. $18,000 brought it home. We then proceeded to grenade the engine on low octane fuel. It had been sitting in the guys fathers barn since late 1960's. What a great car, but alas it is one of the very few 356's my Dad has sold. Gt Brake, Gt seats, Roller Bearing crank... it was way fun..

Best memory other than grenading the engine, I started a vintage race at Brainerd in it around 1983, from the last row, proceeded to pass all the cars in the back 20 rows before I got to the first turn in 8th place. Problem was, I passed Dad too, he was in the 1951 pre-A race car, and I was supposed to be taking it easy.. OOps..

Great memories of that car. He sold it about two years too early for me to afford it and about 200,000 less than it would be worth now. The one we let get away.

At least he still has the the 51 coupe and the 62 S90 that I came home from the hospital in... and the 55 Gullwing, for now...
