Thread: Who has an early 911 with steel wheels?

Who has an early 911 with steel wheels?

When these cars were new it was not too uncommon to see '69-'73 911Ts with steel wheels. It was the norm with 912s to have the steel wheels. I think base model 911s as late as '74 and '75 still came standard with steel wheels (see photos below). So are there any left that still ride on the original 5 1/2" x 15" painted or chrome steel wheels? Please post pictures of your 911 steel wheel rides!

Actually I like the steel wheels on the swb's. Here's a pic of my 65 with the wheels and REAL period 165x15's. Believe me this results in a real vintage ride. I like that.
Had to show the interior too.

    Tom,
Agree! Nice SWB. The interior is excellent. What type of after marketing steering wheel is that? Is it a period piece?

I recently put modified steel wheels on my '67 911S. I bought a set of steel wheels from a friend and shipped them off to Stockton Wheel with instructions on how I wanted them widened. A few months later they sent me back the set; deep-six offset in front and 911R 7-inch offset in the rear. I had them painted silver by a local body shop and I run the car with vintage Dunlop tires (with hand-painted logo area). I'm really happy with the look, although they are a lot heavier than the deep-six Fuchs I took off.

    Hope you like,
