Anyone have a spare set of Steel Wheels? I have been looking for a set. To put on my 73 I really have always liked the look of them expecially on
a Kelly Green car!

Hi all. Here are some pics of my 1969T. The wheels are 6's on the front and 7's on the rear. Tires are 195/65 & 215/60 respectively. No rolled fender lips.
Thanks,

Steel wheels do look like you mean business.
Matt nice car
Guys,
So what rattle can brand and color do I use to paint the steel wheels on my 1969 912 to be as close to original as possible?
The PO had them painted met. silver with clear coat. They look great, just not original.

I assume the answer is a sturdy "No," but does anyone know if steel wheels will fit over (machined) 930 calipers?
matt
glad to see you found some steelies - they look great against the dark green.

Sorry John,
Before I had the wheels powder-coated, they were chrome. I gave them a quick coat of 'aluminium wheel silver', from a can. It looks very close to original. Good Luck.

Matt,
That is really an outstanding car! It is the perfect example of how with the right wheels and the right stance transforms a car. Not to take away from this topic but do you have interior shots?
BTW - Gary, we need some more pics of your car!

I think your assumption is correct. The steel wheels were designed in the days of drum brakes, and disc brake caliper overhang clearance was not on the radar at the time. Look at this pic of the inside of Shawn's custom 7x15 steel wheels and you will see that the plane of the hub is actually outboard of where the wheel center attaches to the dropwell area of the rim. There is no way you could fit these over 930 calipers without a substantial spacer, which means an adjustment to their offset and long studs would be necessary.Originally Posted by Noah
I haven't personally tried it, so I will defer to someone with actual practical experience with this, but it looks impossible to me.
