Check out this RS at Auction Today

On the positive side, it is a drop dead color combination and IMO the wheels are the perfect call.

On the negative side, apparently a non-matching number engine, an Alpine CD changer?, no mention of actual mileage and considering what the say about the speedo I suppose no one really knows. Finally, it has only been part of this collection since 2005, which kills some of the allure of buying from this very prestigeous collection. Be sure to click "next" for more photos of the RS and the rest of the description. Wow, what a beauty!

Have a look around that site....pretty interesting stuff.

Actually, that IS the correct engine for that car - With Porsche, the last numbers of the engine don't match the chassis numbers.

Sold for $165k + Buyer's Premium = $181,500. Car was much better than catalog, but hardly perfect. Much more history was available with even minimal research - Restored in Germany by head of German Porsche Club, purchased by dentist in Birmingham, AL. Arrived in US with cracked case. Rebuilt to 2.9 (single plug, no front oil cooler) Paint decent driver standard. Phil Bagley bought it from dentist, sorted it out a bit, added script, and sold to Chandler.

    RS Auction

I went to the Otis Chandler auction... the RS was the first car up. Almost went for $110k (before 10% fee)... @ the final call, there was another bidder (six additional quick bids and it reached $165k.)
I was wondering why the RS description mentioned 230 hp instead of the 210. (I saw that it was a single plug and figured that maybe it was compression; didn't know it was a 2.9.)
