Thread: Decal Supplier

Personally I think the bumpers need a stripe or trim piece to break up the visual weight down low. Just my thought...

    Hi Milou..
I might understood you wrongly, but beside the weight issue, wasn't the black PORSCHE side strip originally "invented" in the mid 60ies on a 906 Carrera because some tv/radio reporter was refering to it as a winning "beautiful" Alfa Romeo ?

Porsche wanted to make shure it's actually a Porsche..hence the side decal on race cars and later as an option on the 911series.
I think I read this once in an earlier thread..

(BMW was facing the same problem on its 3.0CSL in the early 70ies...to avoid naming it a "British Motor Works" car they made shure its decal quotes "Bavarian Motor Works", written large on the front windshield of the race car)

Any pix of blue cars with stripes?

Ive been contemplating the same for over a year. Would be great to see white versus black stripes on blue. Ive got S-trim as well. Thanks.

    Wink Porsche identity!

Thanks 911T1971, I was not aware of the confusion with Alfa Romeo!

When watching "Speed Merchants", Vic Elford at Sebring is introduced as having won Sebring the previous year (1971) in a Ferrari. Slightly upset, he corrects the reporter saying that he won the race in a Porsche!
I can understand it must be frustrating to be confused with your arch rival!

What about the porsche script on the engine lid? Where do we find this? I can't find an eBay supplier.

    Wink gt racing

Gt racing has the positive Porsche strip that seats on the engine lid. The side decals are the "non original" types so I was a bit dissapointed but the lid decal is ok.
