    Chaps,

All this talk about short gears makes me dizzy !!
Why not just change the diff from 7:31 (?) to something shorter ?
Wouldn't this close all the gears up and provide better acceleration and minimise the torque issue ?
Years ago I read an article in Sports Car Graphic(May '63) on 356 gearing and two diffs were available - the standard 7:31 and a 6:31.
Is something similar available on the 911 parts shelf?
The days of doing over 200 kph here and in the US on public roads are gone forever - maybe gearing for 110 / 120 mph is more practical ?
Just think of the sweet music !!

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

Shorter gears are fine and dandy, but I many of us are also looking for better splits. AFMSZ is crap regarding gear splits regardless of differential, although a 6:31 on this gearset would mask deficiencies by making the car signicantly more lively.

You need to hold a 6:31 pinion gear in your hand. It is the most frightening looking thing you have ever seen. No suprise they would fail in a 912 with 90hp, doubling the horsepower wont help. Gears are not for everyone.

That is right, my mistake, a 6:32 not a 6:31. That makes it even worse.
