    Correct side for radio antenna

    Happy New Year S People.

I am noticing that most early 911 cars have the radio antenna on the driver side, although some antennas are on the passenger side.

Which is the correct side, or is it a U.S./Euro thing?

    Thanks,

    John

My '72 US model (LHD) has it on the driver's side.

I believe standard antennas are on the drivers side.
Cars equiped with the optional electric antennas have them on the passengers side, because there is no room for the motor of the antenna on the drivers side because of the fuelfiller.
Anyway that is what I've seen a couple of times, but I'm not 100% sure if this is factory correct or aftermarket / dealer setup, for cars factory delivered without radio and that had radio installed afterwards by the owner.....

On 356s an electric antenna is (most of the times) on the right hand side while the gas door is on the right side as well. I also belief that elec. antennas are factory installed where a manual is dealer installed.

My belief is that it has to do w/ the weight. An electric antenna weighs a couple of lbs.

Some one out there w/ original fitting instructions? Jerry?

    antenna

I have also heard that dealer installations were on right side as well, most likely due to easier access.
