Thread: Has anyone heard of the "Lace" 67S?

Has anyone heard of the "Lace" 67S?

I asked this question on Pelican some time back but didn't get much response from it.

When I was 16 (mid-80's) I was at a girlfriends house. She was staying at her aunt's place in Portland, OR. Her aunt was an artist and had some really neat works lying around. We got to talking about them and eventually the subject of Porsches came up, as it always does with me.

She said I had to go out to the garage and take a look inside. It was an old house so the garage was detached. She opened the door and there under the hanging single bulb was a very nice ivory '67 911S coupe. I knew what it was but had never seen one yet. The only exposure I had to a 67S was a few pictures in Ludvigsen's book. I couldn't believe I was actually looking at a bona fide S.

The condition was superb. The closer I looked however, I noticed the paint had a distinctive texture. All over the whole car was a raised "lace" pattern in matching ivory. I thought it interesting and even more so when my friend said her aunt designed the paint job (I'm not sure she actually applied the pattern).

Also the interior was flawless. I fell for the waffle and the green guages.

Anyway, has anyone heard or seen this car. I was told it sold at an auction a couple of years later. Never heard about it since.

The subject came up again when I found out the aunt had died recently. Thinking of it again made me want to ask. Thanks.

    Hi Nate:

I used to see that car all the time for many years, both on the road and at Marque Motors where it was maintained and yes, it was a nice one.

I haven't seen it for some time and often wondered what happened to it. Given today's values, it was worth restoring to original condition.
