Restoration of 67s - Upgrades? Single vs. dual brake circuit(s)

While restoring my 67s, the question was raised if I should convert the single circuit brake system to a dual circuit brake system. Many of the components need replacement/rebuild so the cost is not the main issue.

Regarding authenticity vs. added safety, what are you thoughts on upgrading the brakes.

Note: my car is a numbers matching car and I am currently reassembling and restoring the parts of the car to install on the completed body resto.

    Thanks,
    Mark

This is an inconspicuous upgrade. A peek inside the smuggler's box would tell, but otherwise one would have to do some "taking apart" to know the conversion was done. I have always done this to my 67 cars, and have never had a judge comment at concours. But then, I do drive my cars.

I would agree, it is also completely reversible since it is the Master cylinder, a few hard lines and the reservoir. I would do it.

I did mine using a BMW reservoir which has the divider in it and fits in the smuggler's box as per original. The dual circuit M.Cyl. uses the original pressure switch for the brake lights.

it does not happen that often that a brake circuit fails but when it does it is no fun, especially in a single circuit car...ask me how i know.

upgrading for a dual circuit is a nice and „easy“ feature...
    worth the effort....
