The Shelby Cobra $5.5M Porsche Collection

As everyone knows by now, the top priced car at the B-J orgy was a Shelby Cobra (in fact, Shelby's Cobra) that went for $5,500,000. Let's pretend that we have the $5.5M to spend - but let's go ahead and put together a Porsche collection with it rather than spend it on a 3-speed automatic.

I'll get started with a few:

    - 550 Spyder
    - 911R
    - 911S/T

That should leave us with $3.5M or so. What else should we buy?

    Cheers,
    John

I missed BJ this weekend on speed....... I was wondering what the snake sold for..........sheesh.
Whenever I watch the auctions I think how "well priced" early 911's still are.....

There was a phone-bidder on the Super Snake in addition to the 2 live bidders. I couldn't help but wonder if that might have been Mr. Park on the other end of the line. Brian???

    john, I think you're a little light

    the 911r " 550

    1) Abarth Carrera GTL
    2) Carrera 6
    3) 911R
    4) Carrera RSR Turbo
    5) Ferrari 250SWB <---- the most beautiful Ferrari ever made

B-J kinda pissed me off. My anger reached it's peak when the Duesenberg only sold for $600k. Nothing like getting $400 large off of what it should have went for.

Lots a very nice 40's and 50's Caddys went for cheap money.

Good question Curt. I kind of doubt it, he is too busy looking for 'barn' finds.

I think the collection needs a Cobra, just not a $5.5M one. Maybe a simple street 289 would do. As far as Porsche, we need a 993 RS Clubsport and maybe a 964 RS too.

I think we still have an adequate budget for a stable of S's:

    - '67 SWB 911S 2.0 Coupe
    - '69 911S 2.0 Coupe
    - '71 911S 2.2 Coupe
    - '72 911S 2.4 Targa (Hey! I have one of those. )
    - '73 911S Coupe

We should be able to get all of these in 2+ condition (we don't want Concours because we're to going to be driving all of them hard) for less than the buyer's commission on the Snake.

And speaking of driving' em hard - now we need to make Smith an offer on his hot rod.
