Optional long beam on horn grille

    Hi,

After looking for this information for a long time, searching in many books, I have to admit that this point is not really clear so far.

So when the aditional long beam ( mounted on the horn grille ) was proposed the first time on early 911.
Thank you in advance for any help with this issue.

    Regards,

They are shown in the 67 accessories catalog. The light shown is the Italian H1.

    Ok Thank for this info.
But does it mean that in 1966 this option was not proposed ?
    Thank you in advance.

I do not know Brett. I have not seen a 66MY accessories brochure or list. The Red Book lists the 65 option code 9293 for H3 fog lights which I assume is the grill mount but, it does not list the additional main beams. I can't find my Morgan reference right now for some reason I remember the options were listed there as well.

I've got the 1966MY accessories catalog, and the horn grill lights are not listed.....I recently acquired this catalog. So that may mean that they weren't offered prior to 1967?!

That might explain a picture I have. An early 67S Factory press photo showing not the 118 driving lights but, the larger Hella H1 driving lights. They were mounted with the flat plate bracket sliding through the slats. I have a scan and am having a hell of a time trying to resize it with a new program I have. Not very intuitive.

Here is the best I could do. Had to crop out just the portion showing the lights.

Very interesting this pictures. We see that the number of slats is reduced in comparaison to a normal horn grille.

Does it mean that before having a special opening in the horn grille for receiving the lamp, the first horn grille with additional lamp had a reduced number of slats ? To confirm.
In addition I also seen that the first 901 had a reduced number of slats.
