    Blaupunkt Aux Socket

Hi I have a blaupunkt stuttgart with a aux input at the rear of the radio, i would like to hook up my Ipod to it. I have noticed that when the radio is on and i remove the plastic cap that covers the 6 pin socket the volume reduces to a whisper, the plastic plug has two pins which provide a short across two of the aux port pins when the plastic plug is in place. My question is, do the pins switch the radio from recieving radio to the aux input, and if so would that mean that if i had my ipod plugged in i would have to remove the ipod connection and replace the plastic plug to listen to the radio.

    Any advice would be wellcome

    kind regards
