    Bridgestone RE71 DOWNUNDER?

lisa_spyder or BOYER73S, Hows it going Downunder? I'm looking for tires for my 1972S and I remember that one of you stated that they still make the Bridgestone RE71 tires in your country. What size is it? Hopefully it's for a 15" rim. How much are they? What would shipping be to Los Angeles, California, USA? What speed rating are the tires? I need 4 tires.
Thanks in advance for any reply Lisa or Clyde.

    Hi Jim,

It was me...now they were available only in one size due to car manufacturer (Mazda for the MX6 I think) request. 205/55/15 from memory. I haven't enquired for a few months as to their availability but I can ring our Bridgestone guys and ask for you if you like. I have to talk with them on Friday anyway...

    Cheers,

    Hi Jim,

thought I'd jump in here and comment.

Bridgestone Australia dont list that tire any more on their website (http://www.bridgestone.com.au/index.asp). I think the Potenza G III superseded it (?).

I can certainly vouch for this current tire (G III) which I run on my 72E with 7's & 8's fitted to it. I think I have 205/55-15 up front and 225/50-15 on the rears.

Is this tire available in the USA ?

The only other real performance alternative (in 15") that we see out here is the Pirelli P6000.

    Hope this helps.

    Jim,

I have been down the road before with a few of the guys - the GIII isn't available in the States. The RE71 won't appear on the site as it is/was presumably only manufactured for Mazda. But I have bought them through our suppliers who are a Bridgestone store in the past. I have a sneaking suspicion though that we may have bought the last set a few months ago.

The GIII is good - I was singing its praises when it was first released hence a whole lotta guys are running them here now . We use them on our cars for daily use. But the RE71 or 710 (supercession) was better IMHO.

    Cheers,

Thanks Lisa and Phil, for the replies. I was hoping it was a 195/65/15 in a Z or V rating, or maybe a 205/60/15 with a Z or V rating. Just wondering how much is the Bridgestone or was the Bridgestone anyway(RE71 and GIII)? Jim

The Pirelli is a great tyre, and available in all sorts of tyre combo's. We have a 185/65/15 on the 356's and have a 195/60/15 on the 904. on 5 1/5 inch rims. Don't know if you are hard on about having the Bridgestones, but the Pirelli's have been great on all the cars that we have them on!
    Hope that my help.
