Thread: Clutch question

    Rubber centered clutch question

So, is this a factory friction plate that I found in my 73? Also, my car has an aluminum pressure plate, and it's dated 73, too. So, I am guessing that it's original, which checks out with the service records for the car. I always thought the aluminum pressure plates were aftermarket. Anyone know? Thanks. Tom

P.S. I changed the title, and bumped this to the top, because I am still curious about this friction plate - it's rubber centered, and PROBABLY original to my 73.5 T. In case it's not clear from the photo, the center of the clutch is rubber, but the rubber is completely encased in a steel jacket, which is what Porsche should have done with the later 911 and 930 clutches.

    clutch question

the alu pressure plates were stock on the 69 and 70S's and maybe thru 73's also. My 71 E's got one.
Makes a distinct difference in throttle response compared to the steel ones.
