At first glance, this car appears to be decent but upon closer examination of the photos supplied on ebay, this car needs a LOT of work. First, the car is sitting smack in the middle of a puddle and I doubt that there is a lot of ventilation in that warehouse. There are telltale signs of heavy humidity everyehere on the car; fuel filler door edges, leading edge of front bumper, bottom of "S" valence, mold on carpet in rear where seat back makes contact when down, rust on lower sides of the front seat tilt brackets, etc. There appear to be water drops on the front bumper and hood which mean it might be parked directly under the roof leak that is causing that puddle. The seller does not provide ANY photos of the underside of the car which leaves big question marks.

I don't recognize those rear flares .... they look to be hand formed with lots of bondo to make "nice & pretty". The lips(edges) are not consistent and the flares don't appear to match the left side to the right side of the car.

Based on the sellers description and the evidence in his photos, this could be an expensive restoration.

Considering the $30K '67S that recently sold on Ebay, I can't wait to see what this car brings.

Especially since it's not only a sunroof S, it's a Carrera as well! Says so right on the back...

One of the first questions I always get on examination of my obviously modified 911, upon seeing the '911S' badge on the back, is whether or not it's really an S. Well, the car at least started life as one...

I just went back and looked at this car and am amazed. If you had told me this was a $35K car at the start of the auction, I would not have believed it. I'd better be careful or could be tempted to soon part with my S to acquire a GT3...or at least a good portion of one. If this car is $35K, my car with sport seats is worth at least $10K more. WOW.

BTW, you guys should read the DDK board from over in the UK. Those guys are ready to drop $30K British Pounds at any solid rust free S.

Depends on who you ask. For those who must limit the number of toys they keep due to finances, an abstract notion of "keeping cars in the U.S." shouldn't necessarily preclude maximizing ROI. I'm keeping my car (I was speaking in jest), but that doesn't mean that those who want to sell their cars shouldn't have access to good info.
