The switch below the odometer reset is for an intermittant wiper setup, however its from a '74 onward 911.
It probably could be adapted to make a rear wiper switch by a highly creative electrical type handyman,I guess.
I wouldnt be too keen on weighing down the alloy lids with too much accessories - it is too easy to dent one of these as it is.
My car apparently had an alloy lid with the rear wiper until the late '80s but it seemed to die from corrosion .
The rear wipers have been an option on 911s from the start and were a common feature of most UK delivered 911s from the late 60s on.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.
1970 914-6 - materialised from the 'Lotto' garage into reality
    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.

Ahh... Quite possibly so. This car is rather... ahem... non-original in many aspects... Past owner led me to believe that the rear wiper was original, but so much is modified he may have forgotten himself...

And no, if I go to putting the aluminum deck on this car it'd be as part of turning it into an ultralight. Not only would the rear wiper not go back on, the A/C would come out.

Here's a picture of the rear wiper switch (above the turn signal lever) in my '72. It is a hard plastic pull switch. Looks like it could have been a left over part from the 356 days.

Looks like the little switch I got?

This is the kind of switch I got with a NOS rear wiper setup I have. It has the motor on the frame, the wiring, arm, blade, linkage and this switch.

I bought it from a long time Porsche mechanic that closed his shop.

I probably won't ever use it since I don't want to cut a hole in my rear decklid, but you never know.

    Rear Wiper

According to the Work shop manual: Group TRA - Technical Instructions, Accessories:....Rear Window Wiper.
    Installation Kit 901.628.910.00

"If the installation is to be made into a vehicle model up to 1966 - -
up to Chassis Nr. 305 100......it will be necessary to also procure the discontinued bellcrank assembly..."
instructions continue to the dimensions of "locally manufactured" bellcrank spacer and how to drill the lid and brazed-in place the spacer tube.

So the rear wiper was not offered from the factory until calendar 1966 car #305 100. But could have been dealer installed on earlier cars.

It was not reflected in the wiring diagram for either L57 (911) or L59 (911S).
So that would be up thru model year 1967.
