    1965 Carb Linkages

    Hello all,

I'm having some bits re-plated at the moment, but I've noticed on Alois Ruf's early car the three main carb linkages for the Solex's have been nickle plated. My original unrestored ones look like they were more of a gold finish. Which is right? Does anyone have any original pictures for reference in color?

    Thanks
    David

Mines (original) are nickle plated as well.

    Hi Richard,

Does nickel get a goldish hue when it ages/oxidises or do you think mine have been re-done incorrectly at some point earlier in the cars life? Have you got any pictures of yours?

    Cheers
    David

    David,

I will shoot you some pictures tomorrow. I have one set to be rebuild left.

I do not know how it turns out over time but I have (had) several sets and they are all like the one I am going to send you pictures from.

    David,

It should be nickel color not gold.

    1965 Carb Linkages

    David,

Mine appear to be nickle plated as well. I have owned 302672 for 40+ years and still counting.

    Nickel It is then!

Thanks everyone, that's a little bit more of the puzzle solved! I'll post some pictures once it's done. There'll also be a small suprise once it's all re-fitted, lets just call it some icing on the cake

    Cheers

    Hello David,

I checked the carbs that I have left and which are still untouched.

I have both gold and nickel plated linkages. I tend to believe that some where in the production run, Porsche changed from Nickel to Gold.

    Hi Richard,

I'll post some pictures of mine Saturday morning so we can compare. Does anyone have an estimated date or chassis number as to when they've changed from silver to gold?

    Thanks
    David
