Not my car but photo I took of a now well known car while it on public display at an event last September. It’s vin 1247, a third series 73 Carrera RS country equipment code LJ in M471 Sport form:

I’m not posting this picture to be an originality reference example of its lighter weight seats with provision for and equipped with (what look like D-shaped) headrests. I doubt the provenance of them from new is known unless in any surviving history files ? Car appears to have had a bit of prep for motorsport it did in region also it was already roughly a decade old when put away by its then owner in a Beirut building which was then hit by a blast in 1985, during the region’s conflicts of 70s and 80s. It has made Britax without the decals not Repa harness as far as I can tell. Sadly owner was killed in the conflict in 85.

I believe the shots below from several sources show the car’s seats “as found” still in the Beirut around 2007?

Maybe my eyes or trick of the light in photo? But look at headrest(s) in photo taken by me in Sept last year C.f. the as found — stitched vs piping at join? Doubt changed as the (top) recent photo shows they’re very marked in places showing the very light backing (of vinyl?) presumably from war damage? Also why would restorer change headrest if doing a preservation? In balance I think what could be a piping trick of the light in middle image

Other folks here know the particular car and that sad story much better than me but thought its seats would make an interesting addition to this thread. More beyond just its seats in this earlier thread :

Some replicas that came with my hot rod. Quality seems nice.

    Hi all,

I have found this Recaro sport Seat 1967 with the round headrest (Schlummerrolle in German)!

I have understand that less than 10 ‘67 911S cars were delivered with this option?!

Steve your photo gives me the impression of leather headrests, not vinyl.

I don’t know. That why I put it in brackets with ? The backing is quite light in colour in areas of damage ( looks white?) not sure if that is significant on leather Vs vinyl. I should’ve looked closely at material when I took the photo. The car will probably appear at another event. Also regardless of what is fitted we don’t know know the provenance of seats and headrests before car was parked up.
