Look at the "8". Izzat a normal stamping?

I love these "detective" threads!
Agreed about the VIN stamping the trunk, it is not original at all. The '6' and '4' are wrong, it is stamped multiple times, spacing is incorrect, and no * marks either.
Jens,
The '8' bothers me too. It is highly suspect, but every other digit looks correct as does the '911/83' stamp too. Hugh has already told us that Mark Waring sold the RS 1109 with matching engine a few years ago, so this one is probably 66310X4. I wonder which digit was originally there?
6631004 should be in 3601024 (a M472 delivered to Australia)
6631014 should be in 3601048 (a M472 delivered to Switzerland)
6631024 should be in 3601061 (a M472 delivered to Germany)
6631034 should be in 3601055 (a M472 delivered to Germany)
6631044 should be in 3601468 (a M472 delivered to Australia)
6631054 should be in 3601079 (a M471 delivered to Germany)
6631064 should be in 3601077 (a M472 delivered to Germany)
6631074 should be in 3601090 (a M472 delivered to Germany)
6631094 should be in 3601112 (a M472 delivered to Germany)
My guess would be a change from either a '0', '6', or '9' to the '8'. If the Kremer past history is true it makes you wonder why these #s were changed.

Good eye Jens. After looking at the stars and the 663 looking good I moved on to the other pictures. That 8 has been altered.
I should have bought Konradsheim's book when it was $250.
So it seems that if the VIN plate is missing, the stampings in the trunk are altered and the engine number has been changed can we agree that at some point this car had been stolen?
Well, it could be anything, but it would suck to have an innocent buyer pay good money....
So, what did the winner get for $23,900?

Maybe someone should email the buyer a link to this thread. I know I would want to know this background info if I bought the car.
I think the car a legit '74 Euro Carrera. The 911/83 engine is not in the RS book because it is not from an RS but goes with the car it was sold with IMHO. Also, doesn't look alterted to me. The French buyer winner got a car that needs a restoration.
