I believe there were at least 2 Poopers. One, on the East Coast, by Tippy Lipe, and the other, on the West Coast was built & raced by Pete Lovely. I'm not certain Ken Miles was into Poopers as these were done in his "Flying Shingle (MG)" days.

    Well I Be!

    Here's what Wikipedia says

For the 1957 season (in cooperation with Otto Zipper), Ken engineered the installation of a Porsche 550S engine and transmission in a '56 Cooper chassis and body. (It was the second successful race car to be known on the West Coast as "the Pooper". The first "Pooper" was an early 50s Cooper chassis and body powered by a Porsche 356 power train that was built and campaigned by Pete Lovely of Tacoma, WA.) The resulting car dominated the F Modified class of SCCA on the west coast in the '57 and '58 seasons with Ken driving.

    Always fun to learn something.

The Tiby Lipe and Pete Lovely Poopers were built with pushrod 356 motors and transaxles in Cooper F500 frames (a F3 like chassis for 500cc Motorcycle engines) and rebodied with fenders but retaining the single, central seat. I think the Miles Pooper used a 4cam and a Cooper sports racing chassis with better suspension, bigger brakes and a healthier engine this car shared only the name with the earlier 2 cars.

Porsche Powered 906 127 was one of my brothers projects in the late 70's

I recall the car in parts as a spyder shipped out of Asia

Today the 906 has been perfectly reconditiond

In addition to the well known Mk7 Elva Porsche with the 4 cam, there was one factory Mk6 Elva that had a 356. It was owned and raced by James Diana in SCCA races at the time. Anyone have any information on the car? Here is a picture of it racing at Daytona.

I reviewed this thread and when I saw the KMW, remembered rebuilding the engine in one of these while at Rothsport. Interestingly it was a 3.0 built on the elusive ALU diecast 7R-7R 2.7 crankcase. I had heard of one and now I was building one. Twin plug, solid rocker, HBF. Gordon

    March 85G #06

I owned this one for a while.
March GTP chassis, 85G #06, powered by a 962/70 motor. 2.8 liter, single plug + single KKK 33 turbo.
It had solid IMSA history with John Kalagian in '84/'85. It then went to Europe running with Richard Cleary at Spa, Brands Hatch and Le Mans with mixed results.
One of a few March GTP chassis powered by Porsche. The Red Lobster and Kreepy Krauly GTP cars were also March chassis with Porsche power.
They could never keep up with the 956's and or 962's.
