Thread: How many types of 15x6 Fuchs are there?

    6x15

    Hello

It took some cleaning and looking in detail to see exactly what is stamped in the wheel, but it appears, when you look very closely, that the 5 1/2 digit has been removed and was replaced by a 6 !!
Since the 6 is also stamped "on" the wheel and not "in" the wheel as you see with vin and enginenumbers, this means it has to be done in the factory with the mold modified from 5 1/2 to 6, but with the partnumber still being -04.
Making this, I think, a very, very very early 6x15 : date stamp = 6/68.......

I measured the wheel and in all directions it is exactly the same like the -06 wheels. I only have one like this, 3 others are -06.

What a great bit of information. Thanks for taking the pictures and sharing it with us. Until now the earliest deep 6 I had seen was 8/68. There would have been a cross over time from using 5.5 and then the deep 6 x 15.

    Thanks

    Early production...

Maybe the stamping dies were miss marked when supplied to the production line or they modified the 5 1/2 dies to make 6 inchers started production and got the new dies later.. Way cool find, now we are all going to look at every wheel stamped 901-361-012-04 and see what it really is..

    fuchs

For those intrested, I am prepared to sell the deep 6-es (set of 4 : 3 with hearts of which one has this -04 partnumber, one without heart).
I bought them recently and planned to use them on my 2.4E but they'll probably sit here anyway for the next 2 years or so, untill the car is ready.

The wheels are in nice condition, unrestored but very usable as they are. Asking 500$ a piece. For more info please pm.

Transition deep six -> flat six?

    Hi,

I ran across this thread as I was looking for information on deep vs. flat 6x15 fuchs.

Does anyone know when exactly the transition was made from deep six to flat six? Wasn't this sometime during the '72 model year?

My car is a '72 S, Chassis No. 871, so roughly middle of the model year and, I assume, build date around beginning of 1972.

I'm trying to find out whether my car would have originally been delivered with deep or flat six wheels.

    Thanks in advance, Guru

    Hi,

I am not 100% sure when they were actually used, but the changed happened around 3/71. I have read that flat 6s were not used until the 72MY but I have seen flat 6s on several very original 71 MY 911s. I suspect the changed happened during the latter 71 MY.

Mid 71 MY transition. Your 72 would have had flats from the factory.

Just for the groups general info I've also had a deep 6 that was pn 901.361.012.04. And yes it was a 6" not 5.5.
