    Favorite racing books and videos/films

Ok guys, lets pool our knowledge. This list is not for the obvious stuff like "Excellence was Expected" or "Lemans" but rather for the more arcane and out of print items There has to be some great stuff out there that I have not seen yet.

For books, I recently bought an old copy of "Faster" by Jackie Stewart and Peter Manso. It is a recounting of the 1970 F1 series by Jackie. Its a fairly light read, but entertaining.
The "Speed Merchants" book and film are high on my list too. I am suprised by how many people have never watched the film as it is a perfect period piece IMO.

So, those are my suggestions.....any other hidden gems out there?

On eBay there is currently a book about Ecurie Ecosse. It might be a rare book?

These may not be 'hidden' but are definitely gems.

    1) Autocourse 1962/63: The best account of the 1962 F1 season for Gurney and Bonnier.

    2) The Fabulous Porsche 917 (1972): A great period book (stocked with race reports/results) on everything 917 up until the end of the 1972 season. There is a 2nd edition printed in 1976 that gets all the 917 action.

    Attachment 32917

    3) Porsches at Le Mans (1984): Stats and a photo for every Porsche to race at Le Mans through the 1984 race.

    Attachment 32918

    4) Porsche 917 The Ultimate Weapon (1987): A cheaper alternative to the 'The Fabulous Porsche 917', this book focuses more on the development story behind the cars themselves.

    Attachment 32919

    5) Porsche Indy (1989): Everything you wanted to know about the Porsche Indycar and team (in English and German) from the then editor of Christophorus.

Any Christophorus magazine is going to be full of racing:

Currently there's a new book out on longtime Porsche man Herbert Linge:

    I'll second Speed Merchants...

Also, I like the ABC Wide World of Sports coverage of the 1974 IROC races in Riverside, CA and Florida (complete with color commentary by Jackie Stewart).
