Le Mans Clock - New Thread

    Hi Guys,

    Right, here's the new thread.

I've reproduced the clock face using the original photos that everyone posted. It's as accurate as it can be. The numbers were a real pain because originally it'll have been hand painted, so no fonts would match and it's all had to be redrawn. See what you think.

Now there are two ways I can make these, it just depends on what everyone would prefer. We make decorative clocks for a customer who specialises in interior design. Our customer mounts our prints onto an MDF roundell and attaches the mechanism from the back. This this makes a clock with no glass or metal suround and hangs from the mechanism, doing it this way I should be able to get the exact style hands. The second way would be to buy the Ikea clock like was previously discussed. I personally think these will look better and a little more finished, but may take a little longer to manufacture. I can make one of each type and take a photo to show?

Let me know what you think,

    Cheers
    David

Given how long this has maintained interest just knowing that it is going forward is great news. I am interested, but have no time constraint so would like to be able to see the options.
Good for you to pick this up and move forward!
    Regards,
    Bob

    Thanks for that Karl.

OK looks like I need a trip to Ikea

I'll make one up and take a photo of it mounted on the wall. I'm pretty confident about how good these are going to look, we've had one of the prints taped to the office wall all day and everyone has had some critical input. You might even convince the Mrs that it's just a new clock for the kitchen, if not you'll need to clear a wall in your garage, office or waiting room

Righto, I'll make one clock up to see how it comes out. I'll then take some photos so you guys can get a good idea of what the finished clock will look like. During that time I could do with a guesstimation on numbers. Should I aim to make 10 and see how it goes?

The Ikea clock has a quite simple silver surround with a plain glass face just like the original. It's a good size too, approx 320mm/12inch diameter. I wonder how many people would have read it wrong if I'd titled the thread 'Who wants a 12 inch Clock'
