Yeah Jim and old car and a new car are really completely different things. New cars do everything well, old cars are full of character which you have to work with to get the best out of. They ask more of you. I once talked to a steam engine engineer and I told him that I had always heard that people who drive steam engines feel they have the best job in the world and I asked why that was. He said every day was different. Every engine you drove was different. It was like a great puzzle that you got to encounter every time you went to work. The weather, the altitude, where you placed the fuel, how much water there was, the balance between all the different elements- all of those effected how the engine ran, and he said you were going for perfection. Old cars are a little like that in the sense that their flaws and drawbacks give them character and personality. The car may be hot, smelly, hard to handle under some circumstances, but those limitations allow you to have a part in moving forward. Most GT3's are going to feel like yours. I bet every car this last weekend had a personality uniquely it's own. That's fun.

Ha ha, that is very funny and of course quite true.

This one would have been a good candidate for you to consider. It has a lot going for it, great color, good history and documents, original engine with an RS spec engine installed, and it was being sold by a dealer who is one of the eccentric minded members here.

Heck, I'm at my limit of cars and was thinking long and hard about how to add this one to the garage.

I know you do. And I have been following your DDK thread which has become rather dormant of late...

It's always hard to tell from just pictures. I would have liked a bit more info on history and condition. It is a great original color and there doesn't seem to be too much missing or wrong so it's a great candidate for resto. The fact that it's a very early lwb adds a little bit but I'm hoping when ours comes up for sale (THE earliest and a Versuch model) it will attract more interest. I think he/she might struggle to get to 25k but I am not altogether sure how the market is in the US. Here in the UK we are going a bit flat but good/interesting cars always seem to sell. It's the rubbish that is getting a hammering. I would say 21k USD might be the mark but I've been well off before.

    Regards
    Mike
