    Auction Description:

    - Rare right-hand drive UK-supplied, '73 2.4 E with supporting history file
    - The 1973 cars benefitted from five years of annual improvements
    - Supplied with a UK V5c and MOT tested until 11th October 2018
    - This is a 2.4E that you could drive and enjoy or restore totally

Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Porsche 911E 2.4 delivered through Cartune (Teeside) Ltd, Middlesborough on 1st January 1973. Originally finished in red with a black leatherette interior, the car is now presented with silver paintwork. A Letter of Origin from Porsche confirms the usual details about the car including where it was delivered new, although it does not include the engine number. However, we do believe that it does have its original engine as supported by copies of the first three UK registration documents which all clearly state engine number #6230465.

The condition of the car appears to be fairly original, especially the interior and although there is a Prototipo steering wheel currently in place, the original wheel does accompany the sale. There is a solid history file from over the years documenting monies spent with Strasse and Gateforth Sports cars along with a host of old MoTs and copies of old V5s.

In great useable condition, this car would be a decent daily driver for the next few years or would make the perfect candidate for a rolling restoration or indeed a full restoration. Supplied with lots of invoices, a UK V5c and an MoT valid until 11th October, home-market 911Es rarely come to market and we urge you to come and view this car in person.

    Auction Description:

    - Well-Documented, Concours-Level Restoration by Marque Specialist
    - Finished in Original Signal Yellow and Equipped with Desirable Sport Seats
    - Offered with File of Restoration Records and Receipts in Excess of $134,000
    - Includes Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and Window Sticker
    - Accompanied by Owner’s Manuals, Spare Tire, Jack, Tools, and Service and Registration Records

The example on offer was delivered new to Continental Porsche of Tucson, Arizona, and spent much of its life in California. According to factory records, this E Targa came well equipped with tinted glass, Koni shock absorbers, front and rear stabilizer bars, and ATS alloy wheels. Optional driving lights were installed by the dealership.

In 2012, marque specialist California Porsche Restoration in Fallbrook, California, treated this 911 Targa to a thorough nut-and-bolt restoration. The comprehensive restoration totaled over $134,000 in receipts and included a bare-metal refinish in the original Signal Yellow. The interior was equipped with desirable sport seats, trimmed with period-correct houndstooth inserts, and both motor and transaxle were removed from the car with any needed parts either reconditioned or replaced with factory-correct components.

Accompanied by handbooks, tool roll, jack, spare tire, keys, registration records and service receipts, and a CD of restoration photographs, this impeccable 2.4-liter E Targa has the thorough documentation to make it a truly outstanding example of an early air-cooled Porsche 911.

Seems like a decent buy until you study the pics.
Not impressed with the exterior/underside restoration. Lots of details missed/gotten wrong.

Too bad; it's a great color. Nice that it has an aux cooler system, even if it is a 3.2 style.

    Interior by Autobahn
    Body/Assembly by Patrick Motorsports
    Numbers Matching
    Clean and Clear Arizona Title
    Straight and Dry Chassis
    Porsche Certificate of Authenticity

This 911 E was built in November of 1969 and delivered with the following factory equipment:
    Antenna – Left w/Loundspeaker & Noise Suppression
    US Equipment
    Tinted Windshield

Originally, this Porsche was sold new in California, but eventually made its way up to British Columbia. It was then purchased by a Porsche shop in North Carolina where it sat awaiting restoration. Over the years, this 911 simply became a project. It had its original numbers matching engine and transmission, but needed everything. In 2013, the current owner found a listing online for this complete project and decided to have a complete restoration done. He had the car shipped to San Diego, California but eventually moved to Tucson, Arizona and brought it with him.

This was an extensive build. He hired Jae Lee of Mirage, Intl. (www.mirageintl.com) to rebuild the complete drivetrain. Jae is highly respected in the air-cooled Porsche engine building scene and was even building/developing the engines for Singer cars. The paint, body, and assembly were done by Patrick Motorsports (www.patrickmotorsports.com). The interior was provided by Autobahn Interiors (www.autobahninteriors.com)

In total, this build well exceeded $150,000. We have over 75 pages of detailed receipts.

    Drivetrain by Mirage:
Machined/bore case, case savers/inserts, oil plugs, oil bypass upgrade
Mahle S pistons/cylinders (original factory parts)

    Complete valve job
    Refinish E crank/balanced
    Resurface heads, head studs, seats
    Oil cooler
Complete transmission rebuild (gears, synchros, bearings, etc)
    Flywheel and clutch kit
    Eurometrix work
    Throttle bodies
    Bore/refinish stacks
    Fuel linkage
    MFI pump rebuild by Fairchild
Valve covers, fan, and alternator stand restored by Mark Motshagen

Body and assembly by Patrick Motorsports:
    Complete dissemble to bare metal/rotisserie
Factory fenders, parcel shelf, and other metal from Porsche Classic
    Metal work/rust repair as needed
    Glasurit single stage paint
    All new rubber
    Install complete interior
Refurbish gauges (w/LED lights) by North Hollywood Speedometer

    Repair pedals
SSi stainless steel heat exchangers and muffler
Install all glass (some new) and refinished window frames
Wiring harness (complete) by Dennis Powell
Correct factory refinished Deep 6 Fuchs wheels including spare (5)
    Vent and wiper system
    Restore heater system
New deco, rubber, trim, and lights
    Leather wrapped steering wheel
Genuine Porsche rear view and side mirrors
    Suspension (all new/restored)
Stock sway bars (powdercoated) with drop links
    All new rubber bushings
    Koni shocks/struts
    Stock torsion bars powdercoated
Rennline crossmember and front strut bushings

    Interior by Autobahn:
Recover original front seats with German vinyl and wool pepita inserts
    Chrome/refinish all seat hardware
Recover rear seats in German vinyl
    Refinish knee pad
Front door panels and rear side panels
Repair grab handles and recover garnish rails
(Carpet, dash, door pockets, and headliner by Patrick Motorsports)
Restored (correct) Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio prepped for ipod connection

This restoration was quite extensive. Every nut/bolt was taken apart and restored or replaced. Some of the most respected names in the business were involved.

The exterior looks very nice. The Glasurit single stage paint has a deep shine to it with no signs of any wear or damage. The glass is all new as well. The side window frames appear to have had an issue with anodizing and there are some stains and signs of repairs upon close inspection (see pics). The panel fitment is decent, but could be better as the gaps are not quite perfect. The factory “deep-6” Fuchs have been restored and look great. There are wearing near new BF Goodrich tires (205/60-15). We have a pair of factory original (very rare) 7R wheels wearing near new Pirelli CN36 tires (215/60-15). They rubbed at this ride height. They are available for purchase for an additional fee (see pics).

The interior is equally as nice and all new. The seats have a nice feel to them and are surprisingly supportive. There headliner, carpet, and door panels are all fresh. The dash looks nice with no cracks, however, there are a few small bubbles where the vinyl wraps up over the instrument pod (see pic). The speaker grill sits a bit proud due to the new speaker specially designed for that space. All the gauges work including the clock. LED lights are installed for better visibility. The radio works and powers up. There is no antenna installed as the owner didn’t want to cut into the metal. Also, all the exterior and interior lights work as does the horn.

The underside, trunk, and engine bay all are indicative of a fresh restoration. Everything is new and tidy. The engine bay looks fantastic with all components freshly restored. The trunk is very similar with everything new as well. The owner opted for one battery installation, however, the other side battery box remains. The smuggler box area looks correct. All the vin badges and stampings are correct. The compliance sticker in the driver door jamb was replaced, but we have pictures of the original decal before restoration and it is correct. The underside is the same as the rest of the car. Everything is new or refinished. The floor looks great as well as the front pan. The engine is dry. Several core plugs have been sealed with JB weld (see pics) for extra protection.

We just took the car to Vision Motorsports to have one of their top MFI experts perform a break in service and tune the car (less than 50-miles ago). They performed the following:
Oil service with correct Porsche filter and Porsche Classic oil
    Valve adjustment
    Spark plugs
    New points
    Tune MFI and throttle linkage
    Adjust clutch
    Adjust shift linkage
    General vehicle inspection

    Finally, a fresh compression test was done and the results were exceptional for a fresh built motor: 1) 158 2) 160 3) 152 4) 155 5) 150 6) 160

This 911 E drives great and just had a 350-mile shakedown as the owner drove it from Tucson to deliver to our shop. It drove across the state and experienced triple digit outside temperatures. It ran flawlessly and had no overheating issues (thanks to the upgraded oil cooling system). The power is quite strong with excellent throttle response. There is no hesitation or popping from the MFI. The handling feels precise with excellent turn in and it tracks straight. The brakes have a nice positive pedal feel and scrub speed with confidence. There is no fading or pulling. The 901 gearbox shifts smoothly with no grinding and is very precise. This turnkey example would be ideal for fun vintage touring events and has fantastic curb appeal.

This 911 E comes with the Certificate of Authenticity, copy of all the build receipts, spare (correct deep six Fuch) tool kit, jack, original bumper fog light hole covers, and the owner’s manual with cover.

*Available for an additional fee are a pair of date stamped factory original 7R Fuchs wheels wearing near new Pirelli CN36 tires (215/60-15) – see pics. They are date stamped 1/70 and 6/70

    *Original Albert Blue over Tan
    *Numbers matching engine
*Classic and iconic early Porsche 911
*Offered with restoration documentation, COA, books and tools

This incredible, numbers matching 1970 Porsche 911E Karmann Coupe is the recent recipient of a total nut-and-bolt restoration which has left the car in concours condition. During the restoration, the iconic body was media blasted and brought to a bare metal shell before being finished in its original color of Albert Blue. While the car was fully disassembled, every nut and bolt was restored or polished to its original factory finish. The interior was completely refinished with new leather seats, headliner, carpets, authentic-style matching Coco mats, and original factory door pockets. The original, matching numbers engine and transmission have been fully rebuilt by a well-known marque specialist. Every shock, spring, and bushing has been replaced with the correct items. All five "deep 6" date stamped original Fuchs were refinished and anodized by Al Reed to as new condition. The restoration process has been extensively documented in the cars well-organized history file, which also includes a copy of the Porsche supplied Certificate of Authenticity. An upgrade to leather and a stainless steel exhaust system appear to be the sole variations between the cars current and as delivered state.

The serious Porsche collector seeking an early 911 Coupe ready to be enjoyed on their favorite backroad or competing for trophies on the concours field need look no further than this outstanding example. With its handsome color combination and excellent details, this superbly restored, well-sorted Coupe is ready to make its next owner proud.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911E coupe was purchased new by the current owner at South Shore Porsche/Audi of Hewlett, New York on August 22, 1973. Finished in Irish Green over black leatherette, this 911 now shows 95k miles and is powered by the numbers-matching 2.4-liter fuel-injected flat-six, which is mated to the original 915 5-speed manual gearbox. A rust preventative treatment from Ziebart was applied three months after delivery, and power windows were equipped from new along with tinted glass, fender molding, and Recaro sport seats. 15″ Fuchs alloys have been added, as have SSI heat exchangers and a remote oil cooler. A cosmetic refresh was recently carried out as described below, and the selling dealer has serviced the car since the mid 1990s. This 911E is now being offered with service records, original sales documentation, the factory wheels, a Porsche CoA, and a clear New Jersey title.

The original owner was a member of the North New Jersey Region PCA, with whom he attended various track and autocross events in the Northeast. In the late 1970s, the car rolled over in a run-off area at Lime Rock Park during a track event and sustained damage to the roof, windshield, and one pillar. Porsche Specialist John Paterek of Chatham, New Jersey performed the repair, which included the installation of a replacement factory roof skin from the cowl to the engine cover. A cosmetic refurbishment was carried out within the last six months, including a bare-metal repaint in the original Irish Green (15). Replacement stainless rocker trim is fitted along with a set of H4 headlights. Refurbished 15” Fuchs alloys wear Pirelli rubber, and the original bumperettes and sealed beam headlamps are included in the sale along with the original 15″ cookie cutter wheels.

The cabin features factory power windows and black leatherette Recaro sport seats. New sun visors and charcoal carpet have been installed in within the past two months, and a 1980s Alpine head unit and aftermarket 3-spoke steering wheel are also fitted. The original owner indicated that approximately half of the indicated miles were added before 1988. 95k miles are currently shown on the 5-digit odometer.

The 2.4-liter flat-six remains equipped with Bosch MFI and comes paired with a Type 915 gearbox. A Petronix Ignitor has been added along with an aftermarket front-mounted oil cooler, SSI headers, and a Dansk muffler. Service has been managed by the selling dealer since 1996, and notable work included a top-end rebuild at 82k miles in 2013. An oil change and brake fluid flush were performed in 2018, and a folder containing over 35 service records is included with the sale. Engine stamping is #6231733 and matches both the service booklet and CoA, confirming the engine as original. Transmission stamping is #339624.

Stainless steel brake hoses, Turbo tie rods, and an aftermarket set of spherical tie rod ends have all be installed. The factory tool roll and jack reside in the front compartment, and the electrical system has been converted to a single battery. Rust is present in the front latch panel. The original sales invoice from South Shore Porsche/Audi shows that the car was delivered with special paint, tinted glass, electric windows, engine compartment light, Recaro sport seats, and a rear stabilizer bar. The total price when new was just under $11k.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original colors and powertrain numbers. Service records are included in the sale along with the stamped service booklet and other early documentation. The car is currently titled with the original owner and is being offered on consignment, though it will be re-titled in the dealer’s name prior to transfer to the new owner.

    *Extensive 2-year restoration

    *Desirable end-of-the-run 2.4-liter 911
*Last of the sought after "long nose" 911s
    *Brilliant tour and event car
    *Rare sunroof from the factory

This stunning 1973 Porsche 911E Coupe is the recent recipient of an extensive 2-year restoration. Beginning with a very solid and original car, the body was completely stripped before being finished in its original color of code 13, Bahia Red. The interior has been completely refinished with new carpets, headliner, map pockets, refinished gauges, and a new dashboard. During the interior restoration, the car was tastefully upgraded with RS Sport Seats containing Houndstooth inserts. Mechanically, the original matching numbers engine has been fully rebuilt and resealed in addition to the MFI injection system being re-freshened and re-calibrated. Under the car, new Koni shocks have been installed and all bushings and suspension parts have been replaced or freshened. Rounding out the restoration, the five original date stamped Fuchs alloys wheels have been restored in California in the correct anodized factory finish by a well-known wheel specialist. New Dunlop 195/65 R15 tires have been fitted to all five wheels and new aluminum lug nuts have been installed.

In accordance with its COA, this U.S. delivered example retains its factory fitted electric sunroof and Blaupunkt radio. The car is fitted with S trim that includes aluminum rocker trim panels and S style factory front Spoiler. The U.S. required rubber bumperettes were removed in the front and earlier chrome bumperettes were used in the rear. European H4 Bosch Headlamps have been installed along with factory Bosch front and rear Euro marker lenses. Accompanying the car are its original manuals, factory tool kit, restoration invoices, and a COA. This well sorted, beautifully finished 1973 911E offers an opportunity to acquire the final year of the highly desirable long hood, air cooled MFI 911 that is fully sorted and ready to be enjoyed.
