    BaT Description:

This 1969 Porsche 911E is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0L flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and was purchased new by the current owner’s late husband. It would reside with the original owner in Iowa and then Nebraska, and a repaint in the factory Light Ivory was performed before the car was placed in storage in 1980. The car was removed from storage in 2011, and subsequent work reportedly included changing the fluids, replacing the tires, rebuilding the shifter linkage, and changing the spark plugs and wires. Features include tinted windows, black door lettering, a Becker Europa radio, and 14″ Fuchs alloy wheels. This longhood 911E is now offered in Arizona on behalf of the original owner’s family with a binder of service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a dealer invoice copy, an owner’s manual, a warranty booklet, and a clean Nebraska title.

The exterior is finished in Light Ivory (6804) accented by black “PORSCHE” lettering on each door and gold emblems on the engine cover. The car was reportedly repainted in 1980, and a photo of the car being prepped at that time is included in the gallery. The seller notes that the paint shows some cracking along with chips and scratches. 14″ Fuchs alloy wheels are wrapped in 185/70 BFGoodrich Premier Touring tires. 1969 was the first year of the long-wheelbase 911, featuring an additional 67mm of wheelbase for a total of 2,271mm. An included documents states the pneumatic front struts were replaced with standard shock absorbers in 1975.

The interior is trimmed in black leatherette with matching carpets and trim. Features include the factory Becker Europa radio, 911E badging on the glove box door, and aftermarket three-point shoulder belts. The factory four-spoke steering wheel remains installed, and cracking can be seen on the knobs of the cigarette lighter, light switch, and defrost switch. Factory VDO instrumentation consists of a center-mounted 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil pressure, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just over 69k miles.

The 2.0-liter M901/09 flat-six is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and is mated to a Type 901 five-speed manual transaxle. Following an extended period of the storage, the car was reportedly serviced in 2011 with a fluid renewal, rebuilding of the shifter linkage, and changing of the spark plugs and wires. More recent work included an engine oil change in early 2019. An oil leak is noted on the passenger side of the engine case. Additional underside photos are included.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the original trim codes and optional equipment, including door lettering and tinted glass.

Regarding the 73' 911E Tangerine in Gooding's Auction:

Does anyone know anything about this car?
    No Mileage
    No transmission number
    No COA
Couldn't locate Sanders Imports of Marietta, SC....anybody know anything about him?
No info on Rick Priami of Comberland Furnace, Tenn. - anybody ever use him or know anything?
Any idea why Pat Williams would rebuild the engine? But reference to upping the HP for racing...
I'm interested in the car, but after typing the above questions.....not so much now....
    Thanks,
    Glenn

    72E 9.jpg

    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911E was delivered new to the original owner in March 1972 in Stuttgart, Germany, and spent time in US and Europe before being acquired by the seller’s late uncle in California circa 2000. It was then inherited in 2015 by the seller, who has added approximately 2k miles since. The car is finished in blue over a black interior, and power is provided by a fuel-injected 2.4L flat-six paired a five-speed manual transaxle. Modifications include a Dansk exhaust, Rennshift shifter, aftermarket seats, Koni shocks, Rebel Racing bushings and mounts, hollow torsion bars, and more. This 911E is now offered with service records, spare parts, a tool kit, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body features a 1972-only exterior oil filler door. Per the seller, the panels were refinished in blue numerous times under previous ownership, and the passenger front fender has received dent repairs. Overspray is present on the exterior rubber seals and at the top of the front fenders. Rust is noted around the passenger side headlight as well as on the bottom of the doors as shown in the gallery below. The factory aluminum rocker trim is included in the sale.

The grille-mounted fog lights are wired to the high beams and were reportedly installed under original ownership. 15″ Fuchs wheels measure 6″ wide and are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires. The car rides on Koni shocks, hollow Sander 22mm front torsion bars, hollow Sway Away 29mm rear torsion bars, and Rebel Racing front and rear bushings, along with nickel-plated adjustable spring plates. The calipers were rebuilt under the seller’s ownership, and new pads, rotors, wheel bearings, and brake lines were also fitted.

The black interior features a Recaro Pole Position driver seat and a Vintage R passenger seat. The car is not equipped with a radio, and a Rennshift shifter has been added. Flaws include dash cracks, door sill cracks, tears in the parcel shelf, and a tear in the headliner. A four-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a selection of auxiliary gauges. The seller states the speedometer stopped working at 146k miles and was replaced, and now approximately 45k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, with the true miles unknown.

The fuel-injected 2.4L 911/52 flat-six is mated to a 915/02 five-speed manual transaxle. The previous owner commissioned a rebuild of the engine by Modderman Service in Mountain View, California, the details of which are provided on the invoices in the gallery below. Rebel Racing engine and transmission mounts are fitted, along with a Dansk exhaust. The seller states the heads were re-torqued in 2016, and various fuel hoses were replaced. Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is said to be difficult when performed quickly.

This looks like a very nice highly optioned car. The posting says the car is restored. The interior restorer did a great job with the correct oatmeal colored carpet and hard to match dark brown seats. Kudos to the restorers...

I purchased this car. My first 911 after owning 356’s for 28 years. AC is great in the south. Enjoying it and as a Clemson grad the color is pretty sweet. :-)
