    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911E coupe was acquired by the previous owner in 2004 and subsequently restored over a 10-year period, including a repaint in the factory Olive color. The car is the 486th of 1,124 911E coupes produced for the model year and was purchased by the seller a year ago. Power is from the numbers-matching 2.4L injected flat-six, which was rebuilt during the restoration and is equipped with 3.2 Carrera-style chain tensioners. The engine is mated to a 915 transaxle, and the interior features black leatherette upholstery over salt-and-pepper carpets. This 911E is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, some records, a tool kit, owner’s manuals, and a transferable New York registration.

The exterior was refinished in 2006/2007 in the original Olive (3939) color by the previous owner. The car features Porsche side script and the 1972-only exterior oil filler door. The powered sunroof can be seen open and closed in the gallery below, and European-style headlamps are fitted with chrome bezels. The 15″ Fuchs wheels were reportedly refinished by Weidman’s Wheels in Oroville, California and are fitted with Goodyear Eagle GT tires showing 2012 date codes. The seller states that the brake calipers were rebuilt by PMB Performance in Sandy, Utah.

The interior features black leatherette upholstery, salt-and-pepper carpets, and a white perforated headliner. Black Coco mats with red accents are fitted. The 4-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in leather, and a period AM/FM Blaupunkt radio is retained. VDO instrumentation includes graduated oil level, pressure, and temperature gauges. 14k miles are shown, though true mileage is unknown. 500 miles were added by the seller over the last year.

The fuel-injected 2.4-liter 911/52 flat-six is mated to a 915/02 5-speed manual transaxle. The previous owner commissioned a rebuild of the engine which included the addition of 3.2 Carrera-style oil pressure fed chain tensioners. In 2008, Ollie’s in Lake Havasu City, Arizona align bored the crank case, media tumbled the case halves, and installed new timeserts. The rotating assembly was balanced and the flywheel was resurfaced. Anchor-Atlantic Enterprises in Pitman, New Jersey resurfaced the cylinder heads and rebuilt them with new valves, springs, seats, and guides in 2009. Doughty Racing Cams in Shingle Springs, California reground the camshafts to standard specification in 2010. The mechanical fuel injection pump was rebuilt and the injectors were cleaned in 2010 by Pacific Fuel Injection in South San Francisco, California. Crank case stamping *6220770* matches the included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, confirming the engine as original. Aftermarket heat exchangers are equipped. A laminated Porsche Certificate of Authenticity details the optional equipment and confirms the original engine and color.

    Dealer Description:

Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando is proud to offer this awesome 1970 Porsche 911 E. This rare 911 E was purchased by its current owner 15 years ago, at that time the seller, believed he was the third owner. The previous owner had the car for about ten years and drove it every weekend. The car was repainted in 2005 Porsche "Arctic Silver" (paint code L92T) in the summer of 2005. The original color of the car was blue. The entire interior was reupholstered in Black "German vinyl" matching covers and the seats springs/ padding was replaced. The AM/FM radio was upgraded with a new "old school style" radio, which has a plug for iPod (in the glove box) and looks perfect in the dash. The exhaust system was replaced, and the brakes upgraded, and the dual quad Weber carbs were rebuilt. Several rubber lines were replaced with steel. The car is very stock overall. The car has been to several local Porsche Club of America (PCA) events and won a couple awards for various "best of" categories. The current owner also took the car to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for a PCA Drivers Education weekend. The car drove beautifully on this amazing road course and dozens of fellow PCA members asked if they could drive it which he declined. This is driving the way it was intended---- no power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioning, the roar of the engine! The car has been serviced by a local mechanic specializing in German cars for the past four years. All fluids changed this past summer and tune up. Recently replaced the tires (Yokohama 185/65R-15 high performance, V-speed rated) and fresh spare tire as well. Original Porsche jack and some tools with car, new dual batteries and much more. The car runs like a top! Very good condition. Beautifully cared for in climate-controlled garage. This beautiful 62k original mile 911 E is powered by the 2.2 Liter Flat 6 Cylinder engine mated to at 5 speed transmission.

    BaT Description:

This 1971 Porsche 911E was purchased new at Vasek Polak in Hermosa Beach, California by a husband and wife team of physicists. It remained with the original owners until being acquired by the seller in 2013. Now showing just 48k miles, the car is finished in Conda Green over black leatherette and powered by its numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six, which is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Service within the last 1,000 miles included a clutch replacement, tune-up, oil change, alignment, new engine seals and gaskets, and new tires. This 911E is now offered with service records from throughout its history, an owner’s manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in Conda Green (2626), and a selection of paint meter readings in the gallery show between 3.7 and 5.4 mil. “It’s got original paint [and] original interior” notes the original owner in a video interview about the car from 2013, which is included at the end of the listing. Closeups are also provided of the lighting and trim, which includes the US-market sugar-scoop headlight surrounds along with front and rear bumperettes. 14” Fuchs wheels wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in August 2018, and an alignment was also completed at that time. Factory equipment includes ventilated disc brakes all around.

The cabin features black leatherette upholstery on the seats, door panels, and dash. The car is not fitted with a radio, though a center speaker and antenna were factory equipment. VDO instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer along with a centrally-mounted 8k-rpm tachometer. The 5-digit odometer shows over 48k miles, around 200 of which have been added by the seller.

The fuel-injected 2.2-liter 911/01 flat-six had a factory-rated output of 155 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 141 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm when new. A service in January 2019 at Eagle Racing in Dripping Springs, Texas included an oil change, and other work within the last 1,000 miles has included installation of a new clutch, a tune-up, and replacement of seals and gaskets. Stamping *6210606* matches the number listed on the Porsche CoA, confirming the engine as original. Transaxle is #7114144. The suspension components have been dry-ice blasted, cleaned, and repainted. The exhaust system was also prepped and repainted. A binder of service documents includes records since the car was new, and a sampling of individual receipts. An owner’s manual and maintenance record book are also included. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the original colors, engine number, and factory equipment.

Nice car in a great color. It was a bit painful to watch the driving videos, he never went above 3500 rpm before shifting. I don't think that lugging is very good for the engine.

    Auction Description:

Up for auction, is this 1970 Porsche 911 E Coupe. This beautiful Conda Green early 911 was sold new in Wisconsin and eventually found its way to Seattle by the late 1980’s. The second and third owner were brother and sister and collectively owned the car for 30 years. In 2006, they sold the car to a collector in Idaho, who kept the car for just under a decade. Today the car is being offered up for auction by a factory-authorized Porsche Dealership. The car shows 96K miles on the odometer and is described to be very solid, both mechanically and cosmetically. The gaps and body panels are straight and true. An earlier but high quality repaint was completed some years ago in the factory correct and original color of Conda Green. The paint shows beautifully as can be.

This 911E retains its original numbers matching 2.2-liter motor and produces approximately 155HP. Rowing through the gears in the 901 5-speed manual gearbox is pure joy. The seller states that work was performed by the previous owner years ago, including a refreshing of the engine and a Carrera chain-tensioner update. The engine compartment to be clean and tidy.

The black leatherette interior is in excellent condition and retains its original factory radio. As noted, there are some signs of age to the original headliner and the factory shift knob. The car also received new carpeting and a refinished dash, confirming that this 911E was well cared for during its lifetime.

The five-spoke Fuch wheels are in excellent condition. To enhance the driving experience, the front suspension was upgraded to 911S front struts with an anti-roll bar. Records show that a rod adjustment along with a replacement of the SSI heat exchangers was completed within the past two years. The seller also reports that the car was inspected in their service department and received confirmation that all service is up to date.

There is something to be said about a car that has consistently been in the hands of caring owners. This example was clearly cared for, consistently maintained, and is a testament to how a vintage car can still be a reliable and fun experience.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911E coupe was acquired by the current owner five years ago and subsequently received a refurbishment that was completed in January 2019. The car was partially disassembled before being repainted in silver by a shop in North Carolina. MJE MotorSports and Vintage Racing Co. in Georgia were then commissioned for the mechanical, electrical, interior, and reassembly work as outlined below. The car is equipped with a sunroof and sport seats, and the latter have been reupholstered with houndstooth inserts. The numbers-matching 2.4L injected flat-six was rebuilt and is mated to a 915 5-speed manual gearbox. Just a handful of miles have been added since the refurbishment was completed. The seller is representing the car on behalf of the current owner, who is a licensed dealer in North Carolina. This 911E is now offered in Texas with receipts from the refresh, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Maryland title.

The body was disassembled and stripped before being metal etched, primed, and repainted in the factory Silver Metallic (90). The seals, turn signal and taillight assemblies, and lenses were replaced during reassembly. European-style headlamps are fitted with chrome rings, and fog lamps are attached to the front horn grilles. The 15″ Fuchs wheels were reportedly refinished and fitted with new Michelin XWX tires. New front and rear brake calipers were also installed as indicated by the invoices.

New upholstery was sourced for the interior, including houndstooth inserts for the reproduction sport seats. A stitched cover has been added to the steering wheel rim. The car is not fitted with a radio, though a center speaker and antenna were factory equipment. New electric sunroof parts were sourced and installed along with replacement trim, switches, hardware, and more as shown on the included receipts. VDO instrumentation was rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer and includes a 150-mph speedometer along with a centrally-mounted 8k-rpm tachometer. The 5-digit odometer shows just under 88k miles, just a handful of which have been added by the current owner since the refresh was completed.

The fuel-injected 2.4-liter flat-six comes paired with a Type 915 5-speed manual gearbox. MJE Motorsports was commissioned in February 2017 to refresh the engine cosmetics, and in February 2018 Vintage Racing Co. completed an engine rebuild. Work included included fly-cutting the heads, new valves and guides, new stock-size pistons and cylinders, polishing the crank, rebuilding the MFI pump, and more as outlined in the invoice. Stamping *6231403* matches the number listed on the CoA, confirming the engine as original. Lift photos of the floor pans, suspension, engine, and brakes can be viewed in the gallery. Additional photos showing the paintwork in progress can be seen in the gallery. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows the factory colors and options, as well as the original powertrain numbers. The build is documented with six pages of invoices, which total over $41k and do not cover the paint or body work.
