    Auction Description:

    Delivered new to Germany in April 1972, this very well presented and desirable Oelklappe model spent most of its life in Holland, before being bought by a British enthusiast via a Porsche specialist in recent times. This lovely Porsche benefits from restoration to the bodywork and a fresh rebuild of the engine and gearbox – and as you would expect the car drives very nicely indeed.

    Wonderfully presented in original Gemini Blue with a black leather interior and period correct Blaupunkt radio, and supplied with a UK V5 document and recent MOT, this is a super cool, super usable classic Porsche which is begging to be driven and enjoyed.

    BaT Description:

    This 1970 Porsche 911E was reportedly purchased new by the seller’s uncle from Vasek Polak Porsche-Audi in Hermosa Beach, California on May 25, 1970 and is finished in Albert Blue over black leatherette. The car is powered by the numbers-matching fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six paired with the factory five-speed manual transaxle. A repaint was performed in the late 1980s, and work since the seller’s acquisition in May 2018 included a refurbished dash and radio, new door and window seals, and more as detailed below. This 911E is now offered with records since 1995, a Porsche Production Specifications document, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

    The Karmann-bodied car is said to have been refinished in the original Albert Blue (18) in 1987. The car has been refreshed during the seller’s ownership with new door and window moldings, new window gaskets and seals, and new aluminum door trim. Spiderweb cracks are pictured in the finish and are shown up close on the front hood near the Porsche emblem.

    The electric Golde sunroof has been refurbished, although the seller reports that the motor slips. The sunroof can be operated manually and is shown both open and closed in the gallery below. The 14″ x 5.5″ Fuchs wheels have likewise been refurbished, and they are fitted with Michelin Defender tires measuring 185/70 and bearing 2017 and 2018 date codes, including the matching spare.

    The black leatherette interior has been refreshed since 2018 with a refurbished dash as well as new interior door panels, sun visors, gray carpeting, headliner, and Coco Mats front and rear. The factory Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio has been refurbished, and a new antenna has been fitted. A four-spoke steering wheel and a factory shifter for the five-speed manual transmission are retained. VDO instrumentation is centered around an 8k-rpm tachometer and includes a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a selection of auxiliary gauges. Nearly 45k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and the seller reports that it has rolled over once.

    The fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six has been professionally cleaned, and it was factory rated to produce 155 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 141 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 901 five-speed manual gearbox. The seller reports that maintenance records are available since 1995 and show regular tuneups, oil and filter changes, and replacements of belts and hoses. Engine number *6200190* is shown above, and transmission number 7100726. Both numbers correspond to the original numbers shown on the Porsche Production Specifications document.

    Originally sold in the United States in January 1971, this 911 E was the 664th of 1,088 examples built for the 1971 model year. The E was a compromise between the base 110 bhp 911 T model and the potent 911 S, offering many S trim features on a more comfortable chassis. Its 2.2-litre engine produced 155 bhp at 6,200 rpm along with much-improved torque and correspondingly better performance.

    This 911 E coupe left the factory equipped with an electric sunroof and power-assisted windows. It has been fitted with air-conditioning and a stereo entertainment system. Its original engine was replaced at some point with a series-correct unit. Porsche’s legendary four-wheel disc brakes, hidden behind its familiar 15-inch-diameter Fuchs light-alloy wheels, are capable of nearly 1 g of stopping power. Refinished in its original Silver Metallic paint and trimmed with a serviceable black leatherette interior, this desirable E coupe is an ideal driver’s example and a great entry point into the world of 1970s Porsche 911s.

    Auction Description:

    According to the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity, this 911 E Targa was delivered new in Paris, France, and originally finished in Light Ivory (1110) with Black leatherette. Factory options listed included headrests on both front seats, a ‘comfort’ package, which included electrically assisted door window lifts, plus tinted glass.

    The Targa top appeared in 1966 with a built-in roll-over hoop for fear that convertibles might be banned for safety reasons. The earliest design utilized a removable clear plastic window that could be taken down to create a near-full convertible when the folding center roof panel was also removed. Porsche soon substituted a large fixed wrap-around glass backlight to improve weather sealing.

    While the early history of this 1972 model is unknown, its original engine has been replaced by another from a 1973 E and at some point was resprayed a pleasing light blue. It is equipped with a Blaupunkt radio and Fuchs light-alloy wheels. It is supplied with several repair invoices dating to 2014 and would be a charming addition to the garage of any Porsche enthusiast.

    Seller's description: A VERY, VERY nice 1973 Porsche 911 E Targa. NO rust or damage whatsoever. Running/driving PERFECTLY. A well usable, beautiful and original E. With dutch registration. The engine is very fast and rebuilt with 200 PS. Chassis has perfect original floors, paint and interior are very nice . But it also comes with all new tires. Drive it anywhere!

    This stunning end-of-the-run, long-hood 911E 2.4 Targa is being offered from the collection of acclaimed Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont - creator of the Walking Dead series. Completed at the Zuffenhausen-based Porsche works as a 1973 model-year 911E Targa, the new Porsche was equipped with the same engine as fitted in the car today, while the exterior was finished in a Gold Metallic color over a black leatherette interior. The car was equipped for the US market, and the long list of optional extras included front and rear stabilizer bars, wheel well moldings, Comfort Equipment Package, fog lights, tinted glass and Dunlop tires.

    Mr. Darabont purchased the 911E 2.4 Targa in 2015 from the Porsche experts at CPR Classic Sales in Fallbrook, CA. A comprehensive mechanical service, maintenance and refurbishment job was done at this point, of which receipts can be found in the history file. The Porsche has since been kept in his climate-controlled collection of exquisite European sports cars, while being treated to service and maintenance as needed. With the exterior completed in the period-correct Signal Orange color, the car looks very appropriate for the era. The cabin was recently refurbished with a new light-brown leather interior, with pepita black and brown on white coolth inserts - a livery that suits the car extremely well. The wheel well moldings are still in situ, and European-style H4 headlights have been fitted out front. The Porsche is accompanying by an owner's manual, a tool kit, and invoices from the work performed by CPR as well as the Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity. This well sorted, beautifully finished 1973 911E 2.4 Targa offers an opportunity to acquire a fine example of the highly desirable long-hood, air-cooled MFI 911, which is ready to be enjoyed on tours such as the Copperstate 100 or Ramshorn Rally.
