    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911E is a US-specification coupe that was finished from the factory in Viper Green over a black interior with houndstooth seat inserts. It was delivered new in Germany in April 1972 and driven in Europe before being shipped to the original owner’s home in California in late 1974. The original owner kept the car until his passing in 2010, and it was then stored in a garage until the selling dealer’s acquisition in November 2018. Maintenance in August 2019 included removal of the numbers-matching 2.4L flat-six for a top-end reseal. New piston rings, valve covers, and a clutch were installed along with many other components as outlined below. The heat exchangers and muffler were also replaced, and the car was dyno tuned following reinstallation of the engine. Equipment includes 15″ Fuchs wheels, Weber carburetors, lower rocker trim, driving lights, and new Michelin tires. This 911 is now offered in Houston, Texas with its order invoice, 1974 shipping document, California registration cards from 1977-2010, an owner’s manual, and a 1975-issue California “pink slip” in the original owner’s name.

The car was originally delivered with Koni shocks, front and rear stabilizer bars, and comfort equipment according to the order invoice. More than 100 paint meter readings from around the Viper Green exterior are attached in the gallery, most of which show between 3.0 and 5.0 mils. The seller notes that a light scuff was touched up on the passenger-side rear fender, and other touch-up spots are pictured in the gallery. The windshield is a replacement item. 2019 work included paint-less dent removal, new plastic and rubber plugs, new taillight and turn signal lenses, and replacing the front trunk and rear decklid struts.

15″ Fuchs wheels display 1972 and 1973 date codes as shown in the gallery, and the seller had four new 185/70 Michelin XWX tires mounted in 2019. A full-sized spare is located in the front trunk. Note the blue, six-digit California license plate mounted out back, which was issued to this car in 1975 as shown on the pink slip.

According to the original invoice, this car was delivered new with a driver’s sport seat and black Pepita inserts. A patch is present on the driver’s seat cushion as shown above, and Recaro lettering on the driver’s seat-back adjustment lever is pictured in the gallery. A racing placard with the original owner’s last name is affixed to the inside of the glovebox lid, and “101” decals are present on the underside of the front hood, indicating potential competition use years ago.

In 2019 the seller fitted a refurbished Blaupunkt radio, new Perlon trunk carpeting, and new trim for the door and maps pockets. US-spec instrumentation is present, including a 150-mph speedometer. Just under 12k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The 2.4L flat-six is equipped with pressure-fed chain tensioners and paired with a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Weber 40 IDA carburetors were added at some point in the past in place of the factory fuel injection system. New engine bay decals were affixed during the 2019 service, which is outlined by the invoice below. The original owner’s compression test notes between 1973-1994 are contained in the owner’s manual, and recent compression gauge results.

    - 150 Miles on Full Restoration

This 911E was built on October 22nd,1968. It was ordered with the following factory options:
    - Antenna – Left
    - Loudspeaker in Dashboard
    - Michelin Tires

Although not much is known about the early history, we believe it was sold new in Oregon and lived most if not all of its life near Salem, Oregon. The primary early owner was a U.S. Army officer who was stationed in Fort Bragg but kept the car at his home on the West Coast. He put the car into dry storage in 1989 where it sat until a local Bend, Oregon resident bought it in 2014 to restore. This owner never got around to the restoration so he sold it a year later to the current Orange County enthusiast.

The car was in solid condition with no signs of major rot/rust or damage. It was complete with the numbers matching drivetrain and all the metal panels were original. This SoCal owner flew up to Oregon to check out the project, purchased it, and had it shipped back home where this 4-year+ restoration began.

The owner, with help from industry friends, disassembled the car and cataloged all the parts. The body was sent to be media blasted to determine what work was needed. As it turns out, the body was in excellent condition with very little rust. It mostly needed a new floor and front suspension pan. Sleepers Speed Shop in Costa Mesa, CA put the car on a rotisserie and did all the necessary metal work on the bottom. The car then went to East Autobody (Shane East) of Orange, California for a complete repaint in its original factory Tangerine as well as fitment of the body panels.

The mechanicals were trusted to Aase Motors of Fullerton, California. Allan Faragalah did the engine rebuild. Highlights include:
    - Complete tear down of motor and split the case:
    - Case machining by Ollies with Barrel shims, inserts, case savers, and bypass kit
    - Full engine overhaul
    - Mag and polish crank
    - Resurface 2.2 heads/port to S specification
    - 2.2 S Mahle Piston and cylinders (9.8:1 compression)
    - 911 S Dougherty Racing camshafts
    - New MFI injectors
    - Gus at Pacific rebuilt MFI pump to 2.2 S spec
    - Throttle bodies rebuilt by Eurometrix
    - Elephant Racing oil lines with early S trombone oil cooler in front fender
    - Powdercoat tins
    - Clutch kit/resurface flywheel
    - Oil fed chain tensioners (930 style)
    - Valve job
    - Replace front hubs
    - Rebuild steering system and u-joints
    - Shifter bushings
    - Aluminum front S brake calipers
    - Rebuild brake calipers, brake lines, master cylinder, and Ferodo brake pads
    - New fuel and oil tanks with all hoses
    - Refinish muffler and heat exchangers
    - Electronic ignition
    - Rebuild distributor
    - Transmission complete rebuild with new syncros and bearings
    - Bilstein shocks and struts/all new suspension bushings/rubber

In August of 2019, after driving 150 break-in miles, the owner took the car back to Aase for valve adjustment, oil service, inspection, and other minor sorting.

The complete interior was redone by K&H European of Garden Grove. This included all carpet (Haargarn), door panels, seat upholstery/restoration, dash refurbishment, new visors, and headliner. The rest of trim, rubber, hardware, etc. were sourced from Sunset Porsche, Aase Sales, Stoddard, and Sierra Madre. The gauges were mechanically restored by North Hollywood Speedometer while the original patina of the faces was retained.

This 911 E is very fresh from restoration and it looks great. East did a great job getting the color, paint, and panel fitment just right. There are no signs of use. The glass looks great with all the proper factory stampings. The rare 3-bar decklid grille is original and in excellent condition. The deco trim, rubber, light lenses, and rubber are all new. The factory 15×6 Fuchs have been polished and are wearing full tread Pirelli tires in the OEM size (185/70). The original unrestored 14” spare Fuchs with tire is in the trunk.

The interior is equally as nice. Most everything on the interior is new. There are also no signs of use. Everything smells new as well. The gauges all work properly including the clock. The interior lights also work. The original door pockets were straightened and expertly repaired by Juan Ortiz.

California registration is current and paid through March of 2020.

This 911 E includes two sets of keys, spare wheel/tire, partial tool kit, restoration receipts, and original Certificate of Authenticity.

    BaT Description:

This 1969 Porsche 911E is finished in ivory over a black interior and is powered by a fuel-injected numbers-matching 2.0L flat-six paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car was purchased out of New Jersey in August 2017 by the seller, who then commissioned a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment that was completed in late 2018. Work included a repaint, a reupholster of the interior, and an overhaul of the MFI pump, ignition system, and braking system. This 911E is now offered with with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

This Karmann-built coupe was repainted in ivory in November 2018. A 911S front valance is fitted, and the sugar scoop headlight surrounds have also been painted. Gold lettering is affixed to the rear engine deck lid, and the remaining chrome parts were reportedly refinished. Tail lights with orange signal lenses are installed out back.

The 15″ Fuchs wheels wear new Kumho tires and are said to be refinished. Just Tires in Culver City, California performed an alignment in February 2019. The seller states that the braking system features a new master cylinder, discs, and pads.

The black interior was reportedly refinished with new Hargarn carpets, a white perforated headliner, and vinyl seat covers. The seller states that the seat chrome was reconditioned, and the doors received new panels, pockets and seals.

The dashboard and gauges are said to have been refinished, and instrumentation includes quantitative imperial oil temperature and oil pressure gauges. Approximately 95k miles are shown on the odometer, 300 of which were added by the seller in two years of ownership. A Grundig cassette head unit is installed.

Power comes from a numbers-matching 2.0L M901/09 flat-six mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller states that stainless steel heat exchangers are installed. The mechanical fuel injection pump was reportedly rebuilt in November 2017 by MFI Werks in Bend, Oregon, and tuned by TRE Motorsports in July 2018. A November 2018 overhaul of the ignition system is said to have included a new ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor, points, spark plugs, and wires. An oil change was also performed at that time.

The number stamped on the engine crank case reads *6290462*, and matches that on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. A photo in the gallery lists compression test results showing 160-180 psi across all six cylinders.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the original finishes and optional equipment, including a left-side antenna and the loudspeaker in the dashboard.

    Dealer Description:

    - Single-Family Ownership from New
    - Completed October 1969
    - Invoiced New January 15th, 1970
    - In Warranty Date January 15th, 1970
    - Out of Warranty Date January 16th, 1970
    - Registration “258 AUM” (Mexico City)

    Options:
    -Tinted Glass
    -Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo System

This particular 1970 911E Targa was a normal North American Market model completed in October of 1969. It was sequentially the 216th example completed on a total production run of just 923 vehicles. The car was ordered new by Inter-Continental Motors Corp., in San Antonio, Texas. After completion it was delivered in December of 1970 via Porsche-Audi Division of Volkswagen South Central Distributors Inc., of San Antonio, Texas.

The original order had been placed on behalf of a prominent Mexico City family that had a large collection of specialty automobiles. This was the third Porsche the family had ordered and purchased and the 2nd from Inter-Continental Motors Corp.

The car was ordered with just two options, Tinted Glass and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo System. For some reason, the car was instead completed and delivered new with a Becker Mexico Cassette Radio System rather than the Blaupunkt System. There are no Porsche records on why the different radio was installed from what was originally ordered. The original invoice for the vehicle only notes a dealer charge of $195 for an “AM-FM Radio.” The car was prepared for delivery to Mexico City and it was formally invoiced on January 15th, 1970 for a total price of $9,082. As it was an export vehicle, no license or registration fees were collected by the selling dealer.

The car was then shipped overland and registered as a new vehicle on Mexico City plates “258 AUM.” The car would remain with the original family that purchased it new from 1970 until January of 2005, when the family relocated and moved to Rancho Santa Fe, California, bringing all of their cars with them. This Porsche was then re-registered on California Historic Vehicle plates, “814W.” The car would remain with them in California until just a few days ago when they contacted our company to sell this and several of their other vehicles.

During the family's 50 years of uninterrupted ownership, this Porsche was driven a total of just 15,934 miles. During their ownership, after arriving in the States, it was given a comprehensive repaint in the original color and the interior was partially refurbished, which included new seat covers and attention to other areas. The only non-original item on the car after completion by Porsche was the fitting of a Petronix ignition system.

The car is completely matching numbers, accident free and all part numbers, casting code and date coded items correspond to the original assembly of the car by Porsche.

All services are completely current and up to date. The original alternator has also just been complete serviced and overhauled.

This vehicle is sold with a comprehensive file of the original records from new as well as complete tools, jack, books, manuals, warranty card and other Porsche delivery documents that accompanied the car when it was sold new.

I think I'd want to see a paper trail to confirm that mileage claim. The underside, engine compartment and other things don't look like a 15k car to me.

This 1973 Porsche 911E coupe was converted into a C-production race car in 1999 and is finished in Ruby Red with a livery tribute to the Brumos 911 raced by Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood. Over the past two decades, the car has campaigned in the SVRA and CVAR. A mechanically-injected 911S-spec 2.4L flat-six powers the rear wheels through a five-speed 915 transaxle, and other features include stiffer suspension, larger sway bars, dual Recaro seats, a welded-in roll cage, and a limited-slip differential. The seller, who is believed to be the fourth owner, purchased the car in 2015 and raced it through 2018, and approximately 12.5 hours of runtime have been added since the last engine and gearbox rebuild. This 911 race car is now being offered on a bill of sale in Texas with a spares package, CoolShirt system, extra wheels, and CVAR logbooks.
