Thread: 911T Cars for Sale

I was reading it this morning and noticed the Sherwin-Williams paint. FWIW, Sherwin-Williams produces aircraft paint too. Commercial aircraft paint operates in severe conditions like -60º to 160º. Consider expansion and contraction.
A friend had one of the company planes painted last year. The paint job was a war debt. I wanted to know if they could shoot a car.

    Auction Description:

This wonderful 911T has been owned by the current vendor for over a decade. Its matching numbers engine was the subject to an engine rebuilt by renowned specialists Jazz Motorsport some 25,000 miles ago, then detailed 3,000 miles ago when the clutch was replaced. At this time a new interior was fitted (floor treated with anti-rust paint when the interior was done), along with a replaced dashboard ( the original having being subject to sun-stroke). The original gearbox was rebuilt (new dampers, tyres, brakes, and the Fuchs alloys were subject to refurbishment.

Over the 10 years current ownership the best part of £35k has been spent. It is fully serviced every 12 months, and in my ownership has covered about 25,000 miles or 2500 per annum. It is driven regularly (Le Mans Classic every other year since 2008) and never misses a beat.

This 1970 porsche 911t was purchased by the seller in 2010 as a roller project and has since been extensively refurbished, including rust and body repair along with a repaint in silver and an interior refresh. A 2.7-liter flat-six and 915 transaxle from a 1976 donor 911 were also sourced and installed. The engine features rebuilt weber carburetors and the gearbox has been fitted with new synchros and gaskets. Additional features of the build include upgraded suspension and brake components, staggered-width fuchs wheels, and a pertronix ignition system. This 911 was recently serviced with an oil change and is now being offered with parts invoices and a clean ohio title in the seller’s name. He period-inspired hot rod build was performed by the seller, who has 20+ years in the porsche race car and restoration business. Some rust remediation and the correction of a previous repair to the driver-side rear panel were performed before fiberglass front and rear bumpers were installed. A bare metal repaint was then performed in the current silver color. Noted imperfections include a few nicks and dents, as well as some slight fitment issues of the rear bumper. 16″ fuchs measuring 6″ and 7″ in width have been installed and wear pirelli p6000 tires mounted at the time of the build. Brake calipers sourced from the 1976 donor 911 were fitted stainless pistons, re-plated, and installed along with new lines, braided hoses, and emergency brake parts. New wheel bearings and seals were also added.

The interior was redone with rs-style door panels, a custom dash fascia in red vinyl, and a new headliner. Additional modifications include a period racemark steering wheel with solid hub, radio and clock delete plates, and an early 911 interior mirror. The 6-digit odometer was swapped in from the 1976 car at the time of the engine swap and presently reads 135,750 miles. True mileage of the tub is unknown. A pair of 1970s-era recaro seats replace the original items and are finished in black fabric with red vinyl inserts to match the dash panel.

The 2.7-liter flat-six was sourced from the 1976 911 and was refreshed in 1997 at 128k miles with a helicoil-prepped case, head studs, euro-spec pistons and cylinders new gaskets, new rod and main bearings, rebuilt heads, oil fed tensioners, cam timing, 11 blade fan, ssi heat exchangers, sport muffler . The 915 5-speed manual transaxle was rebuilt at the same time and features new synchros and gaskets. A pair of weber 40ida carburetors have been completely rebuilt by specialist paul abbott, and additional updates include 911s cam timing, o-rings, return tubes, a digital cdi box, and a pertronix ignition set-up. The car was last serviced with an oil and filter change at the beginning of the 2018 driving season.

Suspension components have been powder coated and include larger torsion bars, newer shocks and struts, bronze bushings from elephant racing, and a pair of weltmeister sway bars mounted with new bushings and rod ends. The seller notes evidence of prior patchwork to the front pan. A start-up and driving demonstration of the car can be viewed in the video clips at the bat website.

Your car was too nice to let it go so cheap. I thought for sure it would bring at least $70-75k.

Gawd, this writing is so pretentious and terrible. It's not enough to simply sell an old 911 -- lately I've noticed you have to claim that it's part of a "collection," or even better, a "private collection" (are there public collections?), but I've never seen puffery on this level -- an "active and significant international collection." Are there dormant, insignificant, domestic collections?

    BaT Description:

This 1969 Porsche 911T was purchased by the seller in December 2013 from its original owner in Redwood City, California, where the car had been stored indoors for over 25 years. Approximately 2,500 miles have since been added, and power comes from a 2.0-liter flat-six paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle. Since acquiring the car, the seller has spent over $17k at Schatz & Krum BMW Porsche of Sacramento on maintenance and repairs as detailed below. Service records from the seller’s ownership are included, and this Porsche is now being offered with factory books, supplements, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

According to the seller, this 911 was painted burgundy from the factory. The original owner had the car repainted in its current shade, which includes a metallic flake. Front and rear bumper overriders are equipped, and the seller notes one small spot of corrosion on the passenger door. Per included service receipts, the seller had four new 185/70 series Kumho Optimo tires mounted on the 14″ Fuchs alloy wheels around 2,500 miles ago on December 3, 2013.

The cabin features black upholstery and appears to be mostly stock, including a Blaupunkt radio and the 4-spoke steering wheel. There is a crack in the windshield. Currently, the mechanical 5-digit odometer shows 14,540 miles and is believed to have rolled over once. The seller has added approximately 2,500 miles since December 2013.

The 2.0-liter flat-six is fitted with an electronic ignition system and stainless steel exhaust, though it is mechanically stock otherwise according to the seller. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a factory 5-speed transaxle.

Maintenance records since the seller’s purchase are included. Most recently, a stalling issue was corrected in May 2018. Over $17k in invoices from Schatz & Krum BMW Porsche in Sacramento, California are shown in the photo gallery. An overview of work is listed below:

02/14/2018 @ 114,324 miles – engine oil leaks fixed, replaced distributor, drained/flushed fuel tank, cleaned carburetor float bowls and installed larger pilot jets, new ignition coil

    10/04/2017 @ 113,520 miles – engine oil/filter change

10/29/2014 @ 112,317 miles – various electronic and wiring repairs

07/30/2014 @ 112,208 miles – replaced upper and lower valve covers, new fuel filter, installed tachometer adapter, replaced brake master cylinder and pedal bushings, new throttle coupling

12/3/2013 @ 112,100 miles – car had been sitting for 25+ years, full inspection, fuel delivery repairs, clean and repaired carburetors, boiled out fuel tank, replaced hood shocks, new rear brake pads, front/rear brake hoses replaced, brake fluid flushed, engine oil/filter change, replaced exhaust system with stainless-steel unit, various new gaskets and seals, new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, pilot bearing, shifter ball coupling and bushings, installed used transmission gears, three new synchro rings, new mainshaft bearing, replaced synchro teeth

Factory books and several OEM supplements accompany the sale.

    BaT Description:

This 1970 Porsche 911T Targa was completed in December 1969 finished in Tangerine over black leatherette upholstery and equipped with comfort equipment. It remained with the previous owner in Larksville, Tennessee for 37 years until recently being pulled out of garage storage by the selling dealer. Power comes from the numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six, which is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The odometer now shows 66,503 miles, and the car is described as mostly original aside from one known repaint and the addition of a period Borg Warner 8-track cassette player and stereo speakers. Although the car runs and drives, the seller states that further mechanical sorting is needed. This 911 is now being offered in Texas with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean Tennessee title.

Per the seller, a repaint in the correct Tangerine (23) was completed years ago. The finish is shown in nearly 40 gallery pictures, and the seller has pointed out known exterior imperfections. A vintage Montgomery County decal remains affixed to the windscreen, indicating the longtime Tennessee ownership.

Correct Sekurit side and rear glass is present and was tinted from the factory according to the CoA. The front trunk contains a 1969 date-stamped spare wheel, jack, and OEM Perlon carpeting. A set of 14″ Fuchs alloys are equipped with 195/70 series Bridgestone Turanza LST tires. Each corner is shown in the gallery.

The seller believes that this 911T retains the majority of its original interior. The cabin appears to have been kept stock aside from an added period Borg Warner 8-track cassette player and stereo speakers mounted in the driver and passenger footwells. After inspecting the vehicle, the seller states that the lights, horn, wipers, signals, parking lights, and radio work. Currently, the 5-digit mechanical odometer shows 66,503 miles.

The 2.2-liter flat-six and 5-speed transmission have been maintained in stock specifications according to the seller. A compression test was just completed and revealed 183, 192, 156, 160, 190, and 180 psi in cylinders 1-6 respectively. Pictures of each reading are provided in the gallery. The car currently runs and drives, though a complete mechanical assessment and servicing should be performed prior to any road use, including attention to the fuel system. Stamping #6106606 can be seen above and matches the CoA, confirming the engine as original. Rust is present on the front longitudinal.

The Certificate of Authenticity reports that this Porsche was completed in December 1969 finished in Tangerine (23) over black leatherette (11). The original engine number and options are also listed.
