    - Documented with Original Window Sticker, Sales Invoice, and Extensive History File
    - Retains its Matching-Numbers Engine and Gearbox per Porsche Certificate of Authenticity

This stunning and extraordinarily preserved 1972 911 2.4 T Targa was originally sold via Towson Valley Motors in Maryland, finished in Light Ivory over a black leatherette interior and well optioned with Sport Seats, Fuchs wheels, Blaupunkt radio, and the M470 Comfort Package, which included trim items from the 911 S. Original owners Bob and Connie Schmidt kept the 911 until 2001, when it was acquired by the consignor, a renowned Porsche expert. According to the consignor, the Targa retains the vast majority of its original paint, along with its original body panels, trim, and interior. The engine was rebuilt within the last 1,500 miles by the Connecticut-based experts at Automobile Associates of Canton.

The 911’s state of preservation has been highly awarded, including a Second in Class at the 1994 PCA Porsche Parade in Lake Placid, competing against restored cars. It then scored a First Place in the 911 Preservation Class at the PCA Porsche Parade in 1999 and 2016. The 911 is accompanied by its original window sticker, original sales invoice, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, original 1972 sales literature, registration certificates, and its service book, tools, and manuals. This is a well-optioned, well-documented, highly preserved 911 that would be a true prize for any discerning Porsche collector.

It would have been helpful to the vendor (and others) if the auction house for this "preservation class" car could have published the correct vin and engine numbers ..... for the record they are in the photos 911 211 0423 and 6120976 even if they are incorrect in the Listing

    Auction Description:

    - Always in the same family from new.
    - Perfectly restored.
    - 911 F: Extremely rare SWB model.
    - Safe investment and fully usable.

"Sondermodell” cars (IDEM Unique). Electrification of classic Porsche 911 cars (IDEM 9EL Heaven). IDEM restores and modifies existing Porsche automobiles for its customers, all works are numbered, filed and registered. The car The Porsche 911 T, chassis no. 118.25.348 is a 1968 model year, Karmann bodied car with a 2.0 liter engine type 901/03 no. 2081364. It is one of the firsts IDEM’s “Renaissance”, a State of the Art, 0-mile restoration of a classic Porsche 911. The car is a F model (produced from 1964 to 1973) and is a T version, less performing than the more powerful S but definitely the best for daily driving and touring. It is one of the last SWB produced: 1968 is in fact the watershed between the first SWB models and the following 911. More reactive in road behavior, it is a model decidedly more rare on the market. This car is a typical example of ‘barn finding’, since it spent the latest 28 years in a wheat barn in Sicily. It was first registered in Sicily in 1968 and since then, until year 2015, it always belonged to the same family, though it changed plate three times due to the moved residence of the owner(s). This 911 spent all its life in the Island, and by the end of the eighties it was safely parked in the family barn in the in lands, where high temperature and very low moisture helped keep the chassis and the mechanics in excellent status. The car was brought back into life in 2015, the engine worked without any issue and only the rear suspension bolts needed some fixing. Anyway the car deserved, and underwent a total restoration process that ended in June 2017. And here it is, 100% original specs, as it came out from the factory exactly fifty years ago. This 911 T holds all its documents, its original service book, and is road ready. The cardex and the Porsche certificate are available. The car brings double international certification, by dr. Jochen Bader (independent inspector-former general manager of Porsche Classic, absolute international reference for Porsche 356 and 911) and of the Deuschle Büro (official inspector for Classic Data). Full documentation of the restoration works is available. Porsche built only 683 cars with these specs, and this one is just mid-production. Much less than half of this production is estimated still on the road today, and not more than 15% of this share is supposed to be in original conditions or restored to the original, as this one is.

    Dealer Description:

This is a two-owner 911T that was with its most recent owner for the past 44 years and has just under 117,000 original miles. After thirty years with a mostly stock 911T in the garage, he decided to upgrade this car. His goal was to meet or exceed the performance and usability of a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. He began by purchasing a 3.2L (type 930/25) engine from a 1988 911 that had been wrecked with only 9,000 miles on the odometer. The new engine, which makes 217 horsepower at 5,900 and 195 foot-pounds of torque at 4,800 rpm, replaced the carbureted 911T engine and exceeded the horsepower and torque of a '73 RS (210 at 6,300 rpm with 188 foot-pounds of torque at 5,100). Next, a stainless-steel exhaust system was fitted, along with a lightened flywheel, short-throw shifter, and 7:31 ring and pinion for much quicker acceleration. With the mechanical goal exceeded, he purchased steel RS flares and 15x7 and 15x8 Fuchs wheels. He got rid of the stock interior, which is both heavy and bulky, and bought lightweight seats that sit lower to the floor, a smaller diameter Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and replaced the armrests and door pockets in favor of lightweight panels that allow much more elbow room. The end result is a 911 that is very exciting to drive and one that accelerates incredibly well without compromising any reliability.

Please note that a painted to match Ducktail is included in the sale and can be installed upon request.

Acquired by the current owner from a vendor in California roughly five years ago, at the time the 911 T was purchased as a restoration project and subsequently shipped home to Spain.

There, the 911 T underwent an extensive restoration and is presented in incredible condition today. Taken to bare metal and properly prepared with new metal where required, it was then painted in a gorgeous shade of medium grey and upholstered in black leather with black carpeting. Providing a beautiful contrast to the paint, a proper set of polished Fuchs wheels complete the car’s iconic good looks.

With photographs and invoices chronicling the restoration over the course of the past two years, this 911 is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next lucky custodian.

The owner is a local retired physician who initially purchased the car for his wife. She was a true car person and absolutely loved driving it. She drove it regularly until she passed away in 1986 from health issues. Her husband couldn’t part with the car. So, he garaged it in his home in Santa Ana. He still took it out regularly to keep it going and serviced it annually regardless of miles. Initially, the car was serviced at the selling dealership for the first 25k miles/2-years. Then, they began servicing the car at Porsche Strasse in Costa Mesa, which had just opened its doors in 1973. The shop is still in business and now called Auto Strasse. These owners have been taking it to the same shop for 45-years.

Over the past 20-years, the owner has driven the car less than 1,000-miles, but still drove it regularly around his neighborhood (never on the freeway). He also still took it in once a year for service. The services above totaled nearly $14,000.

The exterior is in decent condition and shows no signs of accident damage or rust. The owner thought the paint was original. However, after checking with a paint meter, it appears there was a little bit of paint work on a fender and the rest of the car was clear-coated. This happened in the late 70’s/early 80’s. The clearcoat has faint checking (see pics). The glass is all original, including the windshield. It’s in great shape with no major chips or cracks. All the exterior lights work properly. The original 15×6 Fuchs wheels are unrestored and show some paint discoloration. They are wearing near full tread tires that are older and should be replaced. However, their excellent crack-free condition is a testament to how the car was cared for. There are small chips and light blemishes here and there around the body (see pics). The brakes have near full life.

The underside and engine bay are very tidy and original. We had our local mechanic check out the bottom and found no signs of damage or prior repairs. In fact, the front pan, floor, rockers, etc. are all original and in very good condition. There is a tiny spot of rust on the bottom of the right battery box as well as the factory drain hole in the floor (see pics). Other than that, the chassis is extremely dry and straight. The mechanic noted that the engine has slight leak at front pulley. There is some slight surface corrosion on the front bumper when the trunk is open (in the drain area). It’s superficial with no rot. The rest is very dry with signs of prior drivetrain work including valve covers, oil return tubes, transmission work, and new clutch.

The interior is similar condition and evident that the car was regularly driven and always garaged. The seats appear to be original with no tears or rips and just some light wear on the driver bolster (see pics). The headliner and visors are in remarkable condition with no tears or staining. All the interior lights work as well including the glove box light and gauge lights. The carpet was replaced over 40-years ago and is not correct and has some staining. The door panels are in remarkable condition with minimal warping. The dash is straight and has a couple small cracks (see pics). The A/C system is complete and it does operate. However, it does not blow cold. The gauges all work properly including the clock and Blaupunkt radio (installed a few years after the car was purchased new).

This 911 survivor starts easily and does not smoke excessively. It warms up quickly and has surprisingly strong throttle response. The gears shift smoothly with no slipping or grinding. Even the first gear synchro is tight. I have a strong feeling the transmission was rebuilt. It just shifts too well. The brakes have a good bite with no fading and obviously have been serviced. The steering is crisp and responsive. With a fresh set of tires, this 911 would be a blast through the hills.

California registration is current through March of 2020

This Porsche comes with the original tool kit, spare, jack, original owner’s manual, original maintenance books, many records, extra key, and over 20-years of registrations.
